As it now turns out, I'm going to need a navigator for the Turkey Run on Saturday. It seems the three guys I had in mind are all pre-disposed by their better halves that day. So if there's anyone who would like to spend a day in a classic Mini by going along with me on the Turkey Run, I'd like to hear from you. All you have to do is show up at Cooper Tune that morning and ride with me. Honestly, I do need a navigator since I'll be leading the pack. There are parts of the route that will require map reading and the reading of printed route instructions, and I can't do that while driving a Mini and talking on the two way radio.

Please let me know if you can help by riding along with me.

So how did things go? I was down with a flu bug through the Tuesday after turkey day. I was looking forward to seeing all the classics.

We started out from Cooper Tune in Hampton with 12 cars. One dropped out due to mechanical issues not long after the start but he made it home safe and sound. A couple others dropped out along the way as the day progressed due to other commitments. We had clear blue skies and temps in the 40's and 50's the entire day. Round trip from Hampton, it was about a 240 mile run. For me in Virginia Beach it was 298 miles and 12 hours door to door. The run took us over the Coleman Bridge into the counties of Gloucester, Mathews, Middlesex, and Lancaster, with lunch in Kilmarnock. After lunch we continued on thru Northumberland, Richmond, Essex, King & Queen and back down to Gloucester. We tried to stay on two lane country and county roads as much as possible, the only exception being some nice 4 lane split byways. Next years Turkey Run IV will take us on a lap of the Eastern Shore, staying off Rt. 13 as much as possible.
