With all the rain coming, please be careful out there. It's supposed to rain trough Friday or so and expected to be some significant flooding. Already some showing up down here in Poquoson.

I was just reading a Tar Heel member hydroplaned and had a boo boo with her MINI down there. She's fine, but some decent damage to the MINI.  And and family friend's house here in Poquoson, just had a major fire. They're fine, but not sure if it's related to the wind/rain or not.

Either way, slow down, drive smart and be careful.

Yeh I have been driving my Exploder in this. No chance in taking the Mini out in this crap. I almost had a booboo today too. Was doing about 60mph taking the 264east exit back onto 64east from the HOV. And from a rainy windshield it looked like asphault... But it ended up being about 8-10inches of water that just blew up into my wheel wells and started dragging me over to the barricades. My adrenaline started pumping and I had to really fight with my steering wheel and slowly de-accelerate. Knowing alot of people around Hampton Roads can't drive when in a jellyty situation like that. I am sure somebody or sombodies did hit/side swipe the barricade...especially if driving a car. Already seen enough accidents for the day. It's crazy around down here. Some people just need to stay off the road. But I enjoy these days. Because I know when I wake up tomorrow for work. There are less idiots on the road. Bad thing to say...but I mean it truly. Can't wait for that 1 inch of snow to come too.  038  053

Same with me, Scott.  I had to take my grandson home after lunch and opted to drive the Vue instead of Phlppr.  Wasn't going to risk the drive to Norfolk with the way those roads flood.  The truck is more like a small sail on days like today, but having driven it for 5 years I'm used to how it handles in this weather.

Geez Dale. I thought you would love this auto body repair friendly weather. I know I do. And I'm all for that inch of snow. Just as long as it comes in during rush hour driving. It's no fun if you have the option to stay home and ride it out.

And, get that couch covered in some waterproof material soon. The most recent radar doesn't look very promising for any dryness anytime soon.

I hope anyone who had to go out in this mess makes it home okay! Checkered Flag thought I guess that since it was such a crappy day we would have lots and lots of customers. Yea... it hasn't exactly happened that way. So far today, I have balanced the checkbook, paid the bills, found a good recipe for beef and broccoli, surfed the net for a few good hours, and I think that is about it. So I have been a couch potato from my desk here at the flag today. Hope everyone has a good night and Dale watch out for those Sharks in your living room. 100 They get cranky when the weather gets like this!   002

I've had fun with this weather. After taking me an hour and half to get to work this AM ( they closed the JR just as I got too it). And then those that have no idea what their head lights are for in bad weather (and State Law).  I left early cause I heard they where going to close the M&M this afternoon.  So y'all be safe tomorrow too, cause it ain't over yet. 119

Well, water came and went. No problems here at the house. Water got up to the bottom brick on the foundation, but none inside. Thank ya Lord! Friends down on the lower end ain't so lucky. Hearing stories of 4 to 6 inches of water in their houses. Tomorrow's hightide at 6 AM isn't expected to be as bad. We shall see then I guess......

Gotta love the Navy in bad weather.  I was all the way to work pulling into the parking lot last night when I got the call that I was the only one that could make it in from my shop and our night project was cancelled.  Turned around and headed back thru the mess to get home.  Wasn't so much the water as the debris that almost damaged the Mini.  Came around a corner on the base in the dark and hit water, then almost hit a couple 2x4's.  At least they closed the base before I left the house this morning.

Well, Tug fell victim to the weather this morning.  091  As I was heading from the base (closed AFTER I got there) to our Chesapeake facility, I hit a frigging canyon on I-64 East that took out my left front rim and tire.  Tug is at Checkered Flag waiting for the tire/rim insurance people to come look at him.  They didn't have any loaners on hand so I'm probably going to have to wait until Monday for that.   087 icon_confused

Sorry to hear about Tug  icon_frown  No real damage here in Wythe at our place. Tons of leaves and dead limbs down in the yard and did have 4" of water in the basement this morning  icon_frown icon_frown Have a pump running down there now and the water is down to about 1/2"  Everything that could be damaged down there is at least 4" off of the floor, so all should be OK. Power only flickered off a couple of times last night, but a lot of area's around here are in the dark tonight. If you need a generator Dale, I have one. Let me know. I hope you get power real soon. Been there and done that during Isabel. 14 days without power during that storm ! Anybody else need to borrow a generator, feel free to PM me.
Looks like I won't be needing it this time, thank goodness !!!

I put one of the other 3 spares on him yesterday Dale.  I'm going to have to come and get that one in the Battlestar...

Thanks Dave.  Good luck with the soggy basement.  I wish I could have a basement over here in Bayview.  If you dig down over a foot or so here you hit water even in a drought!  107
