Hey Gang,
Lets set up a meeting to do some preliminary event planning for next year. Maybe a quick dinner somewhere. I'd like to get some input for what kinda of events everybody might want to do. We have a thread discussing next year events HERE, but I thought it would be good to meet up and discuss scheduling. Anyone have an idea of a semi quiet place we could get together at? Also, would it be better to do this after the holidays?

How about the new Quaker Steak and Lube up on Jefferson? They have individual rooms there for clubs and such.

That would work for me. We've wanted to go for some time now, but it's always packed. I'll call them and se eif they have a reservation or something that could help us get in. What's a good time for everybody?

Wow, Quaker Steak is just across the street from Stan's Collision. I suppose that means I could make a 6pm dinner meeting any day of the work week. Weekends are probably better for most.

I can honestly say, the traffic around here from around 4pm till God knows when, can be miserable.

The inside dining rooms are unique. Motorcycles, NASCAR, Trucks. A very car /bike friendly joint with a pretty sweet menu and good food too.

My vote would be for a weekend gather also, preferably a late Saturday afternoon/early evening.  The Steak & Lube/Quaker Steak (are they the same place?) sounds awesome.  My attendance will, of course, depend on my work schedule and timing, but I'll do everything I can to be there.

Well my schedule is always up in the air, but if I'm in-port and not working I would love to show up.  During the week could be a little rough, might be a little late, but weekends can be a little flexible.  Just let me know what is good for everyone else and I'll see if I can make it.

I'll do my best to be there provided I'm not working.

We could treat this as our December Dinner?

still trying to get someone from Quaker Steak to call me back about ressies. I'll let y'all know when I hear something. Maybe a plan B would be good. Although I'd like it to be fairly quiet so we can discuss upcoming events.

I tried setting up a monthly dinner there a few months ago and they never returned my call.  I wonder if it isn't better just to show up with a party of....  Perhaps gather in the parking lot and all enter together.

Alternate - The British Pub in Hampton's Peninsula Town Center.  It is now open, the interior is pretty cool and the food is really good.  THey have this cool table near the front door with benches all around it for unplanned additional seating.

With Quaker steaks attitude thus far, maybe we should look at The Pub Hampton. I've been there several times and had a good time. The food is pretty good to boot.

Kathy, you wanna set up a time for the Pub?

This would still be more of a "Plan for 2010"  but incorporating the monthly dinner would work too.

Just to stir the pot some - with this time of year ie holiday parties you might get a better response for mid/late afternoon verus evening meal for securing possible room area if that is what you are looking at.

Here, here. Forgot all about those Christmas dinner parties coming up. Quaker Steak might be better put to use in January for a dinner.

Laurie and John bring up good points. Most places will probably be hosting Christmas (Holiday for you Politically Correct types) parties. So maybe we'll just keep the 2010 planning here on the boards until After the first of the year. Head back over to the 2010 planning thread HERE and stay up to date and add any input you may have.
