Hi all!  I know I haven't been around much lately.  A LOT has been going on...  I do miss you all and hope to be able to make an event soon!

Anyway...  On to the point of this post...

After an unfortunate mishap  022, I am in need of a headlight for a 2009 Jetta (Anything 2006-2009 should work from a Jetta, Golf or Rabbit - Mk V body style).  My headlight still works, but the mounts are broken, so now I need a new one.

Does anyone know of any good salvage yards in Hampton Roads, preferably on the peninsula?

I'll give it a try, I deal with most all of them.

Checking in the database it asks if you have the super bright HID or standard halogen. Also, in the VIN number, it's asking if the 8th digit is a "M" or a "K". Also, which side do ya need? That usually helps icon_lol It even asks if it's a sedan or a wagon, but I'm assuming yours is a sedan.

Actually, I just checked all 10 options, wagons, sedans, HID, halogen, city or not (whatever a "city" option is) and there doesn't appear to be any in the HR area, let alone the peninsula. Amazingly, half of them even list the lamps as being cracked, damaged, scratched or having broken tabs. I guess they don't understand the difference between used parts and abused parts! But I see this on a regular basis. I get parts sent to me and really wonder if they thought I'd accept them. You'd be amazed!

It's looking like your friendly neighborhood VW dealer is the only option.

Good luck.

Hey Dale,

Thanks for checking for me!  My Jetta is a sedan, halogen, not sure about the VIN at the moment, and it's the driver side headlight.

Other cars/years that will work are:
2005.5-2009 (MkV)
Jetta
Golf
Rabbit

The only import junk yard that comes to mind is English Motors on Rt. 17.  However, he's really stingy about charging high prices for used parts.  My friend and I had to get an idler pulley for his Nissan Sentra (the old one literally flew off somewhere down the road).  We pulled one ourselves, and it was half-rusty.  The guy at the counter wanted $50!  Come on... I could get a new one for that price (back then).

Good to know.  Thanks!   038

I found where I can order just the mounts (which I'm pretty sure is all I need), but it'll take about a week to get them.  Luckily, my headlight still works just fine (turn signal too), and there's no danger of it falling out, so I can survive with it being a little off-center for a week if I can't find anything local.
