We had a great time driving some of the back roads up to F-burg. Adam did a great job of not getting us lost. 023
Can you quest what some of the group was doing Saturday night after the Pub get together?

My girlfriend Michelle had a wonderful getaway weekend.  Thanks everyone for making her feel so welcomed.  I only scared her once, I swear!  The drives were great, thanks, Adam, Troy and Kurt. The parking lot tour was memorable. Sorry guys for introducing your ladies to Charming Charlie's. I had a blast!

Thanks to everyone who went on this run.  It was also my inaugural run as a group lead.  Another thanks to Kurt who suggested using Rt. 625 up near Ft. A.P. Hill as part of the route.  We realized there are probably more good roads along the way around that area.  I have also decided to consider this a permanent route change whenever I go up north to Baltimore or Pennsylvania.  Turns out that run is not as slow as first anticipated; it's also a bonus that it puts you back on U.S. 17 just before the U.S. 301 interchange at Port Royal.  And we were fortunate not to be stuck behind anyone going too slow the whole way up.   023

Also saying thanks to those who showed up from elsewhere:  Susan from Tar Heel MINIs and Brian from DC Metro MINIs who joined for the full run; Troy at Horne's, who also provided some additional back roads at a super spirited level   icon_eek  (as Brian mentioned); and several DC Metro members at the Pub in Fredericksburg:  Ali, Craig, Laura, Chaquitta, and one other sweet lady with her stepdaughter (Sorry!  I forgot her name   075  ).

We also met a couple of other gents at the Pub in F-Burg from out of nowhere who were working as a team to improve their MINI.  One was a mechanic, and the other was the owner.  We did our best to give them some good pointers without overloading their heads (shoot, who are we fooling?).  Do I smell a new team brewing for track events?   080

Thank you one and all for letting me tag along as I had a blast. It was good to meet you all, but I won't remember anyones name until I meet you a couple times(it's an age thing I guess). Since buying my MCS in March I've really never really put the car through it's paces to really know what it's capabilities are and how much nerve I have to push it to find out. Well I now know the answers to both. These cars can corner and I don't have to be afraid of it. I just took it on faith that if the cars in front of me can handle the road at those speeds I must be ok so I just hung in there and was pleasantly suprised. Now it's time to save up my pennies for suspension mods like a rear sway bar, end links, and a strut tower brace. It's like most things in life that once you get a tast eof something and you like it you want more. Hopefully I'll get able to come out more and go to the monthly get togethers(all depends as I have a home bound house guest). Thanks again and look forward to meeting you all again soon. I'm ready for another run.

Thanks to everyone that came up and ran the Pub3Pub run this weekend. Whether you just ate at the Pub Hampton, Just ate at the Pub Fredericksburg or ran the whole run, Thanks!

We had a great run up to Fredville. Adam and Kurt worked together to come up with a really great route. Adam did an awesome job leading a run. I know he was a bit nervous, but you'd never know it. He pulled it off great. Very well done my friend!

We met Troy at the intersection of Rte17 & 301. He saved us from a mundane ride over to Fredville. It was an asphalt roller coaster ride of the utmost fun! I'm very jealous that he has those roads so close to him! You literally had to follow the ROOF of the MINI in front of you. After you experienced zero gravity from cresting a sharp hill, the road would veer to the left or the right. If you didn't watch the roof of the MINI in front of you, you could have your hands full!

Once we all got to the Pub Fredericksburg (And YES I know it's now the Park Lane Tavern!) we met up with the gang that came down from the DC Metro MINI group. It's always great seeing those folks. They are all super cool people!

After dinner, our buddy Susan (who came up from Tar Heel MINI's to make the full run) talked us into going to Carl's ice cream. It's an old fashion ice cream stand that does soft serve. 4 flavors, cones or cups or shakes. Simple, great and fast.

After ice cream we headed back to the hotel. Between dinner and dessert, drinks at the Pub kinda got back burnered. We did sit and compare I phone Apps. That was pretty fun in itself.

Overall, we had a fantastic time. Both Taverns (told ya I knew the name) did an excellent job getting us in and seated. In fact, Hampton sat us at 11 AM when they opened. All 16 of us were fed, cashed out and back in the parking lot by noon! Kudos Hampton!

We'll do this again next year! Bigger and better. Maybe shirts. Maybe give aways. Adam has to lead again. Fredericksburg wants us back again. Pub2Pub I was fun. Tavern2Tavern II will be even better!!!!

Thanks to everyone that came out, new and old alike  023

Like I said on my previous post and on DCMM's thread, I had a fabulous time and Adam's run was great  038

My only negative comment would be the seating at the Tavern in Fredericksburg. It would have been great if the Tavern had arranged the seating so that we all could have been together.

Looking forward to the 2nd Pub run  026

Sounds like everyone had a great time!  Wish I could have been there for that one!  Hope someone took down the directions from 17/301 to fredericksburg.  I'd like to try that addition sometime!

It was a good run. I'll see if I can find Adam's directions and save them for ya when ya get back. Rt 14 on the south side of the Northern Neck is a damn nice route. Maybe a bit longer and a little slower, but WAY less traffic and lots better scenery. I plan on taking that route either up to, or back from the Melanoma Rally in DC this Sunday.
