Hoping everyone stays safe and warm this weekend with this snow event on the way. Be careful on the roads if you have to go out and don't bend any Mini sheet metal  018  This could be a good opportunity for some great photo's, so keep your camera's handy !

I took Newbie out for his morning constitutional at 0530ish and there was about an inch on the ground here in Norfolk.  Twenty minutes later I went outside to take some pictures of Tug and the Battlestar and my footprints from the earlier outing were already getting hazy and starting to disappear.  The snow was falling horizontally from the East! COME ON SNOW!  I want a repeat of 3/1/1980!

Don't forget January 1989.  Had 16" one weekend, then 12" the following weekend.  There were piles of old snow in the K-Mart parking lot up the street until May!   103

Made it to the shop this morning (Jeep, NOT the MINI) and the roads were pretty bad then. Nothing, and I mean nothing happened from 9 to 10 AM. The phone didn't even ring. We had to call from our cell, just to make sure it would ring. I drove through the parking lot on the way in. At 10 you couldn't even see those tracks. We called it quits and went home. The roads were worse then. Don't go out unless you absolutely have to. And even then, only do it with 4WD. Don't take your MINI out in this stuff!

I'm one of "those" people that don't own a MINI!

Took the Maxi-MINI to the shoe store yesterday....  31 x 10.5 x 15 Mud & Snow tires.  Put in 4low this morning.... drove EVERYWHERE!   038

Of course this is the only thing the Cruisie does better than the ol MINI!   Be safe everyone!

I remember 1989.  Lived in Seaford then and attempted going out once.  If anybody knows about the backroads of York County there is a reason schools can be closed for days ; )

To elaborate on the piles of snow back in 1989...  they were like 8-10' high from when they cleared the parking lot.  That's why it took so long for them to melt.  The snow even felt weird, like it was not really at 32 degrees.

Yeah, I'm not taking out my Mini in this mess.  If I do anything, it will be the old Monte.  Already thought of going up the street to K-Mart to do some donuts. 023  Neighbor across the street went up there around 10 a.m. to do so in his truck.  He said someone was already out there doing them.   icon_eek

Well I guess it might just be that I'm from North Dakota, but I didn't think everything should shut down today.  Was a little irritated that after I took the 4 hour trek to Crown Mini to pick up "Tiberius" from getting fixed and came to find a sign on the door that they had closed for the day.  I had been told to pick it up between 9 and 5.  At least they could have called me if the weren't going to be there.  LOL.  Would have been better if VDOT had a clue about keeping roads clear in snow.  In Richmond their plows kept plowing shut the on and off ramps.  Probably a good thing I couldn't pick up the car.

51 backwards okay with you? I had to go out and spin me some crazy circles with the pick-up. I even went to Trader Joes and did some exclusive shopping. My wife and I were two of maybe ten people in the whole store.

Had a chance to blow by a NN Police car doing 25 on Warwick. Passed him on the right doing 35, woo hoo!!!!

Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping I get some work out of this.

If some cop is not having a good day, he could write you up for reckless driving for doing your donuts in the parking lot. Any time your wheels spin it can be considered reckless.

Yes, true.  However, the lot is private.  If the store is closed, and they don't make a call, is he still able to make the citation?
