Well I guess it might just be that I'm from North Dakota, but I didn't think everything should shut down today.  Was a little irritated that after I took the 4 hour trek to Crown Mini to pick up "Tiberius" from getting fixed and came to find a sign on the door that they had closed for the day.  I had been told to pick it up between 9 and 5.  At least they could have called me if the weren't going to be there.  LOL.  Would have been better if VDOT had a clue about keeping roads clear in snow.  In Richmond their plows kept plowing shut the on and off ramps.  Probably a good thing I couldn't pick up the car.

OMG !   I would not have attempted a drive to Richmond yesterday on a bet  icon_exclaim

The drive itself wasn't that bad.  Just way too many people who don't understand the finer points of driving in snow and using the skid to your advantage.  LOL.  Brought back many memories of growing up in the frozen Northland.  I guess I was just a little irritated that I didn't get that call.  But with the number of cars they deal in and the fact that it was being handled by the BMW service side instead of MINI, I guess I could see where I would have been forgotten about.  I guess I just have to hope for getting out of work early on Monday so I can get it.  Maybe tuesday.

Exactly my point about NOT making that drive on Saturday. Most people here do NOT know how to drive in the snow, (It's bad enough when it's only raining), VDOT personel are not well trained for any type of large snow fall, and almost all business's close down on snow days around here. Schools too ! Let this be a lesson learned for living in Va. during the winter. I'm sure they didn't call you because they were closed because of the snow. No one there to make the call !  Guess they must have assumed that everyone that they deal with is  a "local" and should realize that EVERYTHING shuts down in Hampton Roads when it snows  120
Call first, before making any sort of drive when there is snow on the ground around here  icon_exclaim

Kurt, Just wondering.... Have you gotten your Clubbie back from Crown yet, and if so, were they able to diagnose and fix the leak problem  017

No, 009 not again.  120 Our local weather guys have been saying maybe icon_rolleyes snow this weekend, then maybe again 105 Tuesday/Wednesday.  There's a reason I live in Virginia Beach, and it isn't  018 for only mountain we have (Mount Trashmore) that we can't 009 use when it's covered with snow.  075

What kills me about the law about no sliding down Mount Trashmore is I don't believe the mound is that close to the interstate.  That and I think there is a fence between it and the road.  So, could someone potentially slide all that way onto the highway?   017

God forbid that Public Recreation Property should be used for such.  The government might get sued  066

During the Blizzard of 1980, I believe it was, 104 we took a huge truck intertube down Trashmore 045 with about eight teens hanging on. 026  We were flying down the higher size and all of us had to jump out while hauling butt to avoid crashing through the fence 119 on the YMCA side.  The interstate would be impossible to tackle due to fences, ditches, and of course the other road running along side it.  119

The last time I was on Trashmore I even made the comment to my son that it was in no condition for a good time in the snow.  There's huge ditch like trenches running across it in many areas.  They are surely there for a reason as big as they are.

So our local kids hit anything  around the city that resembles a hill for their snow fun. 023  The hubby mentioned that the road ramp off Salem Road to get on Ferral Parkway had over a hundred kids on it last weekend.  He also mentioned that around 40 or so cars were parked around the area.  The police clear it out every now and then only to return hours later to repeat their efforts.

EVERYONE BE SAFE OUT THERE THIS WEEKEND!!!  045

Woo Hoo, here we go again ! It started snowing at our place around 10:30 this morning. Only really started to seriously stick to anything in the past hour. The temp here is still a couple of deg. above freezing, so the roads are mostly just wet, but are starting to get slushy, and the temps are supposed to fall to below freezing later in the day. It probably already has where most of you are. We are only about 50 yards from the Hampton Roads harbor, so it is usually a couple of deg. warmer here than only a half block up the road. The warm water tends to keep it just a bit warmer. I haven't had to scrape frost off of my car windshield even once so far this winter  icon_lol Everyone stay safe out there  icon_exclaim icon_exclaim

I just had to run up to the shop from Poquoson and the roads are just wet. I'm thinking we won't get much in the way of impassable roads from this. Then again, it is supposed to freeze tonight so......

It is just about down to 32 deg. here now, but the roads in Wythe are still only just wet. My sidewalks in the yard are also just only wet. No clue what the roads might be like tomorrow morning, but at this moment here in our area it's not as bad as it looks. I was supposed to be in Charles City County today for my Hunt Club's annual busniess meeting, but thankfully it was cancelled yesterday afternoon. I had been planning on driving up after work yesterday and hoping that the roads up that way weren't too bad for making it home !  It is looking very white outside from where I am sitting at the moment as the screens on our wrap around screen porch on the front of our house are coated with snow  003

Snow started to accumulate on our roads here in Denbigh about an hour ago.  Really built up in the past few minutes.  Probably slushy for now.  But temp drops will make it worse as the day wears on.

My sidewalks are just now starting to get slushy. The street still looks OK. The temp. here has just now hit the freezing mark. Glad I didn't have to make that 100 mile round trip to my hunt club today. I would probably only be leaving there about now, if I had gone.
