Hey Gang,
I've talked to Jacque at Cooper Vineyard and the MINI event is on again for this year. She was looking at open dates either July or August. Do Y'all know of anything off hand that we should avoid? I'll scour the net and other MINI sites and see if I can find anything. She's looking to keep it an annual event, though it doesn't look like Crown will sponsor the event again this year.

So what date works for y'all?

Also, I'll do another drive route. Might be the same, might do something different. Let's get some discussion going.

Dale, I'll check our calendar about dates and get back to you. If needed, I still have a copy of the route from Brewsters Ice Cream to the vineyard. Let me know if you want it and I'll drop it by one afternoon.

Is it for sure Crown will not be sponsoring?  I was just wondering if once we get a date set, we might advertise it on NAM for some national attention.  Even invite some MINI type vendors to get in touch with Cooper Vineyards.

I'll definitely go again this year.  I'm not much of a wine drinker but the company up there just can't be beat!

Agreed  icon_exclaim  Cooper Vineyards is one of my favorite events of the year. Kathy and I have been 3 times , or is it 4  017 Have always enjoyed the drive, the company,  and the people at the Vineyards always do a GREAT job of hosting everyone that attends. For anyone that has never attended this event, I highly reccomend it  026

Well Gang, This will be another one of 1st 's  for me, being a newer member and all. I loved the FCR in OCT,Deffinitly looking forward to the Dragon, and now the Cooper Vineyard Run. Anytime in the summer is bad  for me, just because it's the busy season but I'll plan to MAKE the time....Always up for a good tour or simple wine tasting.. 039

June does not look good for us. A very busy month with at least one week out of town and several other events on the calendar. July or August looks to be the best for our schedule.

Mike, Hoping that you will be able to make this annual run to Cooper Vineyards. I can assure you that you will have a great time !  It is only a one day event, and has always been on a Saturday in the past, but it is a full day with a fun drive up to the vineyard in Louisa Co., usually lots of Mini's, always friendly people, and the people that run the vineyard always have made us VERY welcome and do a lot to be sure we enjoy our time there. My opinion is this is one not to miss  026

I find it a real honor that Jacque asks US what a good date for THEIR event would be. She was unbelievably helpful last year when I asked for any info. The had a good turn out even with the lack of advertisement with the departure of Crown MINI's sponsorship. Our event is one of the biggest of the year, she said. This year, they just plan on building a new tasting room that they're very excited about. Hopefully, it'll be up and running by the time we get there.

So what dates look good so far?

Dale,

THMMC's tentative schedule of events is available here (http://www.totehmoon.com/uploads/thmmc_calendar_of_events_2010_20100202_update.pdf).  I know several of our members have attended the Cooper Vineyards event in the past, so there will definitely be some interest in finding out what date is settled on.

Jacque is really good people to be sure. One of my NASA coworkers, now retired, is her father. I have known him for many years. Even without Crown Mini's participation we can and should continue this annual event and it has drawn people from a good distance in the past. I met people there last year that had come from the DC and Maryland area's. We should deffinately advertise this event on the DC Mini and the NC Mini clubs web sites !  I see that Cooper Vineyards web site has this event listed on their web site as a scheduled event with a date TBD, and they have no events scheduled between May 29-30 and Aug 1st. with our event posted between these dates, but with no official date set as of yet. No one seems to be stepping up and offering a suggested date, so here I go with several suggestions. I see no conflicts with these dates that involve any national holidays or other events, and it appears all of these dates are open at this time according to the Cooper Vineyards web site. May 22nd. June 26th. or July, 10th.  These are only my suggestions. Dale asked for suggested dates, and these are mine.

I see that the THMMC group are showing intrest in the Cooper Vineyards event. TERRIFIC !!! Their suggested date is July 17th.  Works for me and from what I see on the Cooper Vineyards web site, could work for them as well. Opinions ??

Hey Dave, It's Great you've done a lil checking around to find a date that may work for all, including other Mini Clubs. July 17 would be a good date for me since that is my Birthday weekend, and I sure don't wish to WORK on that weekend. Also it's just after the busy July 4th holiday. I wasn't sure when any harvest was, but thought it'd be cool to see it in the works. But, with that said, probably would poor timing, the vineyard being busy  101  and all. So July 17,2010 works for me. 039

Yeah, that sounds like a good date to me, too.  Right after July 4th and before the air show in Osh Kosh.   icon_cool
