I'll pass that along to Jacque. July 17 seems good for us. I spent hours last year, posting on every MINI board I could find. Literally from the Sunshine MINI's in Florida to MASS motoring club up north. And lots of others. Of course also on the big sites NAM and MA. We had a great turn out and yes, Tar Heel brought a heck of a contingent. We'll do a different run this year. I have a few roads scouted out so far.

And don't worry Jeff, We'll surely miss the Tar Heel events!

I guess it is really hard for me to input since I can't tell my schedule from one week to the next.  I did have a soft spot for June 26 since its my birthday, but feel I should leave the schedule requesting up to those who can plan that far in advance.  LOL

Okay, without any further input, I'll shoot Jacque an email and tell her that we think July 17 looks good. I've scoured NAM, MA, DC Metro and tar Heel's schedules and that date looks to be open.

I'll also volunteer to lead a drive from somewhere in Richmond over to the Vineyard. I'd like to see it be from Crown MINI, since they used to sponsor the event. With the current economic climate they aren't participating again this year. But maybe they can serve as a starting point for our run.

I had also mentioned about getting HR MINI on their shirts. I'd still like to see that, but that part will be up to them.

Any other items needing to be addressed?

Cooper Vineyard had their local SPCA (or was it a local animal rescue group?) out there last year and I recall an article about their dog that was wearing that big bead (pearl?) necklace.  I take that to mean that animal charities are dear to them so, why don't we make this a charity run for the benefit of the local SPCA and/or Cooper Vineyard's animal rescue group of choice?

Everyone could bring a bag of pet food, litter, some old blankets ($1 or $2 each at thrift stores) and we could maybe do t-shirts?  I'd like to also propose that we use Sydney's silhouette on the shirt someplace as our mascot-for-life.

I think I still have Julianna's email someplace so maybe she can attend this year too.

Ooh, I just had a great idea.  How about every Mini club that attends asks their local dealership to sponsor by donating towards the T-shirt production in return for their name being placed on the T-shirts?  We could post about it on NAM and take pre-orders (and thus pre-payments) for the shirts on our individual web boards.

Maybe Checkered Flag would be interested in sponsoring HR Mini for this?  DC Metro could get um...  Is it Flow Mini up there?  I can't remember...  Anyway, you get the idea.

The 17th works for me. Had a good time last year, but darn near went broke paying for all the wine my wife purchased!!
Is there a good place to stay close to the winery?

My suggestion for a place to stay would be somewhere in the Charlottesville area.  It's only another 30 miles or so up the road.

Check out their web site. Coopervineyards.com  Click on the "directions" tab and then you can use the Google search feature to search the local area for places to stay. Charlottesville, Fredricksburg, and Richmond are all pretty close to the vineyard, with Charlottesville being the closest. Actually that's not a bad idea. I may just look into seeing about a place to stay in the Charlottesville area for the night myself. It will have to be a pet friendly place however, as Maggie "The Wonder Dog" must attend the Cooper Vineyards event. Ever since she became weightless and was actually airborne while riding in the front seat with Kathy on the run to the vineyards 2 years ago, she must attend, just in case it happens again. Thinking that a starting point at Crown is a great idea ! Perhaps it might encourage them to get involved once again  icon_lol  One thing that has always been very popular and well attended on the Vineyards run has always been the bathroom break in the Food Lion when we have stopped at Brewesters Ice Cream in Richmond. I know that the area around Crown is a well built up section, but a recommended place with facilities might be worth researching and it seems that someone always seems to need to fuel up at the last min. before we pull out, so posting a nearby fuel stop might be helpful as well. We have lost people in the past because they waited until the last possible moment to remember that they needed fuel. Just a few things to consider if we are going to start the run to the Vineyards from the Crown dealership.
