Hey Guys, I've been chatting with a Russian MINI owner from Jersey. Well, he's from Russia, he just lives in Jersey now. Anyway, here's the story. His navigator will be straight from Russia, Krasnoyarsk actually. Anyway, they're driving from Jersey to Key West. Their first stop is in Chapel Hill, NC. They figure lunch will be somewhere around Richmond. SO.....what do y'all think about running up to Richmond for an international MINI meet up? I know there are a few good BBQ places up there and maybe our newer Richmond members could make the gathering as well. I think it would be pretty cool. He even has a tracker on his MINI so we can track his progress. How cool is that? SO here's his thread for the trip: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/travel-stories/177579-nyc-to-key-west-on-a-budget.htmland a thread with pics of his MINI http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/mini-camera-and-video/179692-brief-photo-session-with-mini.htmlSo any takers? Come on all you closet MINI Motorers, this is a great chance to make a MINI run, get something to eat, and have a pretty darn cool get together! I'm in!!!!

Sounds good to me. Buzz and Neds in Richmond has great BBQ (Beat Bobby Flay Throwdown).
Is there a firm date for this?

According to their agenda, they should be coming through Richmond around 1PM on the 10th. Seems they've got their schedule planned out to the Nth degree. Of course, they are coming from the metro NYC area, so traffic might(will) be a factor.

Don't think I can make it. I usually go to Famous Dave's on Broad Street. If anyone knows of a local place that's better, go for it.

Dale, did you see his latest post?
"I will depart NYC early morning on April 10th, 2010. It's Saturday and on my first leg I will stop at Poquason, VA for lunch with very active local MINI Club. Then I proceed to Chapel Hill, NC where I plan to overnight with a friend of mine. The tracker will be on all the time and APRS coverage is good in that area so if somebody local is on the road close to my route I would appreciate an escort of MINI or two "
Is he going to Richmond after that? Is HRMINI the active local MINI Club. Sounds like we can have a lunch local...

I'm thinking he won't wanna trek all the way down to Poquoson for lunch. I mean hell, where would we take him? I'm thinking Mr. C's Pizza wouldn't leave that much of an impression. I was thinking more like the Famous Dave's BBQ in the VA Center Commons on Brook rd north of 95. It's right off the Interstate. I figured we could get there in around an hour leaving the peninsula at noon. Here's their info: http://maps.google.com/maps/place?cid=8470996246019045362&q=bbq&hl=en&cd=1&cad=src:pplink&ei=t3C7S_6jDJ-uMqj0iPoC&sig2=l_1PyuQ9KiYF_HcZGfrI-QSo who's in?

lol if he is gonna trek all the way to Poquoson. Why not take him to The Pub? But I see what your saying. That is way off track when he can easily stop in Richmond and get back onto 95 to 85 down to Chapel Hill in 2-3hrs. Instead of making a 4hr trip from Poquoson.

May be able to do this. Sounds really cool ! I do need to make a run up to my hunt club in Charles City. Maybe I could do both on the same day. Given any thought to going to Bottoms Up Pizza ?

I plan on running the Spring Fling route after lunch. Should be able to do that and still be home around7 or 8 I think. Might have to do it on Sunday though. It's a pretty cool route, I could run it over and over. Super interesting scenery, fun fun roads!
I had mentioned going for BBQ and Vlad seemed very interested. Not sure what kinda BBQ they'd have in Russia.......

BBQ in Russia ? Probably no such thing. Do they have Pizza there ??? Who knows.... I'll try to take care of my H.C. stuff early in the day and then make the short run up to Richmond from there. Watch out for wild turkey's on the road, and hunters as well. Spring Gobbler hunting season in now open.

OK, I got my dates mixed up. Don't know what planet I've been on the past few days. This sounds like fun. I'm in. Shall we meet up at Maaco? Perhaps the Super-K parking lot at Exit 256B from I-64 off Victory Bouleveard? BTW, the tracker feature is cool. However, it's a reminder of what big brother can do these days.
