Thanks for the post.  Virginia has a law requiring motorists to move over or slow down when approaching an officer on the side of the road.  Some changes are supposed to be coming about this year.

One thing officers are supposed to do, to help out a bit, is to park their car at an angle where the front left corner is right up against the white line of the right lane.  This is supposed to help provide a corrider they can walk down without having to worry about someone coming along and clipping them.

I had no idea this existed!  Maybe since it's not a law in MD, that could be the reason. After going thru some of the states on the map, I noticed several states have had this as law as early as 2002!  017  Why we're just getting this info boggles the mind ... oh well, better late than never, I suppose.  045

This is only commonsense to move over but so many people have there heads up there a.. that this had to become a law to protect the officers.

 A few years ago Dave and I were pulled over for not obeying the law in Indiana.   We had no idea. He was pretty understanding and let us go with an education.
