Okay guys, this was one fun event last year! And we only did the last two days!

Here's the concept of the event. Ya take three days to drive the length of the Blue Ridge Pkwy. Sounds boring huh?? Trust me, it's a blast! Last year they went from south to north and it ended in Charlottesville. This year it reverses. It starts in Charlottesville, Afton actually. It ends in Bryson City, NC with a planned stop at Soda Pops, one of the runs from the Dragon. I'd imagine a run up the Dragon might be in order too!

Day one goes from Afton VA to Sparta, NC, Day two from Sparta, NC to Arden, NC (Ashville area) and Sunday's trip takes us from Asheville to the southern terminus of the BRP. In between we stop for lunch and out of the way eateries and make interesting stops. The Moses Cone house was great last year! This year I plan on being an "end to ender". The website www.blueridgeparkwaytour.org seems to be down at the moment but here's Tar Heels thread http://www.tarheelminis.org/forumdisplay.php?55-2010-Blue-Ridge-Parkway-Tour

Here are some of the pics I took last year. This one is worth at least one days worth of runs!

I'm going to be an "end-to-ender" for this event.

Who else is going?

Yea, ya just haven't lived until you're part of a 40+ MINI U turn caused by a detour!

I'm registered! Making hotel ressies Tuesday.

Anyone else in for at least a day? Remember, you don't have to do the whole thing. Sign up for just a day or two. You won't regret it!

Anybody interested in making this run. You can do the whole three day run or any segment. It's too late to be an official BRPT entrant, but I'm pretty sure you're welcome to tag along like we did last year. This years run goes from Afton, VA to Sparta, NC. Day two is Sparta to Asheville, NC. Day three is Asheville NC to Cherokee with an end of the run lunch at Pops Soda shop in Bryson City.  Yes, at the place they do the ice cream run from the Dragon.

I'm heading up E A R L Y Friday morning. That'll be a long day, but looking like 40+ MINI"s will make the run. More info HERE-ALL THE INFO and a Tentative Itinerary  HERE

Surely you aren't going to let the Tar Heel MINI'ers invade YOUR STATE without a welcoming committee???

Yes, less than a week away the 3rd annual BRP trip begins in Waynesboro, VA on Thursday, June 17th. Perhaps you are not planning to make the whole trip? Come out and say Hello and join us for dinner on Thursday. Last report has 63 MINIs registered for this event, but not all will be in Waynesboro on Thursday night .. some will catch up in Roanoke or Sparta on following days along the way ..

Check this thread for details .. and be sure and RSVP post for the headcount to dinner for Thursday night if you are coming so we don't overwhelm our friends at the South River Grille ..

http://www.tarheelminis.org/showthread.php?4430-BRP-dinner-Thurs.-June-17th.-If-attending-please-read-amp-reply!

Yea, you read it right .. *starts* with free wine .. I can see the HR MINI'ers upping the headcount already  icon_mrgreen

After all, I recently drove from Raleigh to Hampton Roads to join you, just for a cup of coffee ..  115

I was just gonna drive up early Friday, but the offer of free wine may be too much of an incentive! Will still have to see. Put me down as a "maybe" for the grille.

And for those of you on the fence, you can do one day or all of them Skip Friday and catch up with us in Sparta, NC for Saturday and end up in Asheville then head home Sunday morning. Cruising the Parkway with a bunch of MINI's listening to the chatter on the radio without the worry of traffic lights is darn fun!
