Was just checking out your 79, very nice resto...love the MKI front.  My question for you is where did you have all your body work done?  I am putting a CF flip front on mine aswell, so someone close with experience is real nice.  Thanks for any info you can share

Well, the bad news is mine came that way from UK.  The (maybe) good news is in 4 parts:

1.  You can look at mine for hints.  It uses the standard frames for the FRG mounting, so you can see how they attach.  Mine does not flip tho, I still have a sep bonnet and fenders.  The bonnet comes off, or the front fenders as one piece.  To do a flip, I'd guess one just replaces my front clips with a hinge.

2.   I have basic welding skills and a 230 volt miller MIG unit ....

3. I have basic auto body repair and paint skills.   Not to Fuzzy's level I'm sure, but I'm willing and have the minimum required equipment (or a cheater way to get access to more....)  Since purchased, I had a shop do one body job and decided to go my own way.  I just repaired the boot lid which was rusted out at the bottom lip.  Cut, cropped, welded and in spots fiberglassed....and painted in my garage.  I've welded in floor pans, and done frame patches  for mine & classic Vette. I have basic welding skills and a 230 volt miller MIG unit.

4.  I'm willing to help.

Swing by next Sat while I help John trash....I mean install... his Aero grill.  You can look deeper at OC and decide how you want to go....I can't recommend a body shop locally.  The one I used, one time, I won't go back to.   They ripped me off royally in my opinion.  (work came in at 2 1/2 the estimate ... charged for a gallon of paint for less than a 1 pt job).  On the other hand just in case you are looking....I went to Abacus for some work...with reservations, but was needing a hand.  They completed the job faster than I expected and for 1/2 the cost I expected.  These guys seem to know how to get a return customer....

Swing by Sat and we can talk...

BJ,

Thanks for all the great info.  I wish I could come round this weekend however I am stuck in Alabama for the next month.  However if the invite is still open when I return I would love to check out OC.  Till then, happy Mini'in!!
