Although Sarah will be graduating and walking the stage with her classmates, she won't be permitted to attend her senior prom on Saturday.

I think it would be awesome if several of us could agree on a place to meet & eat.  I think Doumar's would be FABULOUS.

Sarah is still undecided about whether she wants to go someplace fancy so she can wear her prom gown...but she's also the kind of gal who WOULD wear her prom gown to Doumar's.

We are very flexible at this point...Southside OR Peninsula...casual or not-casual-but-not-fancy...it doesn't matter.  She did have a great time enjoying the sights...um...food at the Pub when she tagged along...

Thoughts?

Well, I was thinking something a little more formal.  How about Italian?  I know of a great Italian restaurant in Williamsburg.  I do realize it's a drive, but you will definitely enjoy it.  They have a great house dressing, various veal and pasta dishes, and a good wine selection.

...

Sal's by Victor
1425 Richmond Road (U.S. 60)
Williamsburg, VA  23185
757-220-2641

...

Apparently, Sal's has moved temporarily.  They may be renovating.  The restaurant had a fire a couple of years ago but reopened a couple of months later.

Here's a map.  Easy directions:  Take I-64 West to Exit 238.  Turn left (don't turn right; you will end up at Camp Peary).  Go to the 2nd stoplight and turn right onto Rt. 132.  Go down about a mile and turn right at light onto Bypass Road.  Go down about another mile or so.  Go over the bridge and bear to your right.  Sal's will be on the right.

...

P.S.  We can always go for ice cream afterward.  Dinner can be around 6 p.m.  We can then leave there and go to the Ben and Jerry's down at Yorktown.  They close at 9 p.m. on Saturdays.  Get the ice cream and walk along the beach for awhile.  I always enjoy that.   023

I am so sorry your family is having to go through such a tramatic ordeal. I know how much time and energy it takes to keep our children motivated and on the track. My sisters daughter had a similar situation two years ago and although her daughter did nothing wrong she was not allowed to walk at graduation. I know that will haunt her forever and it was because of someone elses stupidity. Tell your daughter that even people that don't know her support her!

A formal MINI event, that sounds like a great idea. It will give us all the opportunity to dress up. We could call it the MINI Prom Night.

Alternate local Italian Place.  Bensi in Penninsula Town Center ('round the corner from the Pub).  Elegant in appearance (white clothed tables) pizza on the menu.   Could still do Yorktown for ice cream and walk on the beach...

Erika - you make the decision of where to go and a starting time.  After all you're supplying the girl! I'll try to get it posted to calendar quickly.   Start a fresh link called MINI Prom if you don't mind.

You guys ROCK!

I finally was able to catch up on the Cars & Coffee thread...just learned about the caravan & possibly Doumar's afterwards for lunch.

Is everyone interested in doing the MINI Prom tomorrow evening?

You guys pick the location...I'll make sure we're there!

I'd so much love to drive past the official prom location with a caravan of MINIs...but that's perhaps a bit much, eh?

The principal absolutely refused to talk to anyone from the media.  He did compliment me on my (ahem) tenacity, though!

I am going to lock this topic.

Please refer to MINI Prom! under Off Topic   to plan to attend this event.  Or just put in your 2 cents.
