Hi Everyone,

Summer is a busy time for families as well as our MINI friends.  Don't let that stop you from inviting along some MINI friends on an adventure you have in mind.  Many events can overlap because some are out of town and some just plain don't appeal to everyone.   062

Don't waste your time with feelers (anybody want to....?)  Just pick what you want to do, and when you can do it.   069

So, if you have a favorite ice cream haunt or planning a day trip, add it to the list of events for our Local Hampton Roads Community and you may just be surprised who shows up to join in the fun!  I'll keep my eyes on the boards and relay the info to the calendar team.  PopcornEmoticon

If you plan it, they will come.   045

I'd also suggest that we should extend that to tech sessions. If you're going to change brakes, exhaust systems, add a cold air box, sway bars, struts, springs, a pulley, body kit etc etc, than perhaps you can make it a tech session for anyone who's interested to attend, watch, learn, help, kick tires, bs, etc.  Instead of ice cream, bring beer.

One of the few places I feel like I'm missing something for not being a beer drinker.

Speaking of pulleys, I still have a set that needs installed and an increasingly anxious wife that wants them on.

I'm lovin' the Tech Sessions idea.

I remember some Car Wash Detail Parties in the past as well...

So you get the idea!  If you are planning on doing anything with your MINI and you don't mind some company, invite us all along.

I wish we had a photo and a name to go along with our "call signs".
Someone offered to paint my calipers for cheesecakes. I know his face.....I have two kegs tapped in my backyard. We could kick the tires at my house some time and I could fix lunch. I'm sure the cul-de-sac would love a circle of minis!

That sounds like Steve (BabyBMW). He loves to paint calipers.

On a different note, I have installed several sets of springs, brakes, sway bars, intakes, and exhausts in the past so I would be more than willing to help out with the tech day stuff. As far as pulleys go, Scott Gardner was the one for that job.

So Howard, how many HRMINI members do you have over to help put the classic back together? Remember, I said two people for those doors minimum. So that's at least three beers, one for you, and two for the other guys you'll be watching hang those doors.  044 044 044

Actually John, I'm (slowly) working alone on the Mini and will do so until it's time to hang the doors. They will be one of the last items to go back on, and I already have my assistant lined up to help with the task. My plan is to complete it before I take it to Mini Meet East at the end of June.

Well Dale, maybe one of these nights at the Pub, we will have to try the single malt sampler or the bourbon sampler!  Something a little different then beer.  LOL  Although I am partial to the big mug of Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale!!!!!

Okay, taking the tech session idea a step further....

I'm in the early discussion stages with the guys from Atlantic Autowerks to hold one or more MINI Clinics at their shop. They're very receptive to the idea, and I'll be meeting with Bob and Terry next week sometime to do some initial brainstorming. One of my initial thoughts is that perhaps we can make this a  twice a year function, with one in the Spring and one in the Fall. A broad range of topics could include but not be limited to periodic maintence proceedures, street tuning, hi-performance tuning, tires, suspension, brakes, induction and exhaust systems etc etc. With their vast experience and knowledge, and Terry's long history and expertise in autocross and in Solo 2 on an national level, this could prove to be quite entertaining, informative and interesting. I'll report back here after my inital discussion with them next week.

In the meantime, let's see a show of hand of those who may be interested in attending. Also feel free to throw clinic topics out their for us to consider.

Once we have a plan in place, I'll start a seperate thread on the subject under the gearhead category in order to generate more interest, and we can get it added to the events calendar.

I'll be away for the weekend, and may be out range for internet service, so you guys kick this around a bit.

Hope all of you have a great Memorial Day weekend.
