I've heard great things about this run. And for those of you that have made any of their runs, they do a great job. Check out the details it looks like a blast. This is a Sunday run. Might be smart to make a run up on Saturday and spend the night.

Thank you for the announcement.  icon_biggrin

This year will be the forth annual. Please find the detail as follow:

It's time to attack the curves and picking cherries again.  003

Meeting in Frederick, MD at:

Frederick Towne Mall, main parking lot

1301 W Patrick St., Frederick, MD

at 9 am, we will depart promptly at 9:30am.

Heading north we will work our way through the hills and curves of Gambrill State Park, Cunningham Falls State Park
and down the winding ways of Catoctin Mountain National Park.

Total of 65 miles, Driving time of approx. 2 hours.

After we've warmed up the rubber on our tires, we'll let them cool while we enjoy our brunch buffet. We will stop for brunch at:

Cozy's Restaurant

103 Frederick Rd / Rt.806
Thurmont, MD 21788

Cost: $17/person, included 10 main-courses buffet, deserts, beverages, tax and gratuities.

Kindly bring EXACT cash for the amount.

Then it will be time to heading out for picking cherries at Pryor's Orchards in Thurmont.

Things recommended:

Two-ways radio, set @ channel 7, sub-channel 21
Sunblock lotion.
Hat and sunglasses, very useful during the cherries picking.
Water bottles
Some cash, they don't take charge or check at the orchard, and as well as for the lunch.
Suggest that everyone should have some light breakfast before the run to avoid "motion sickness", especially for your co-pilot and the passengers. Trust me on this one.  078

The route is not very long, total of only ~65 miles. BUT, it will winding left, right, up, down through the mountains. Kind of very very twisty in some parts.  101 There are some with extreme up-slope and/or down-slope. For some may feel this very challenging.

The run is planned to finish within ~2 1/2 hours with one 20 minutes break in between. We should arrive Cozy's by noon. After we spend some times for the delicious brunch, we will caravan out to Prior's orchard for cherries picking.  079

You can rsvp at Central Maryland MINI Motorists, http://www.meetup.com/Central-Maryland-MINI-Motorists/calendar/12655147/
or at DC Metro MINIs, http://www.dcmetrominis.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1043

Final headcount will be on Mon, June 21, due to the need to confirm the number with the restaurant.

I will throw in some idea.  115

It can be a great weekend trip.

You can come up to Thurmont on Saturday have lunch and check in at the historic Cozy's inn, http://www.cozyvillage.com/Cozy_Inn_About.html
Then go a up north for about 30 minutes for historic town of Gettysburg tours and dinner. There are a few fine dining place in Gettysburg. Then go back to the hotel.

Sunday morning after breakfast, go south to Federick to join the fun. (Thurmont to Federick is about 30 minutes drive).

The run will finish back in Thurmont and the orchard is less than 10 minutes away from the inn.

That will make this a fun weekend.  003

Some of us will be stay at the inn on Saturday night as well.

I had really planned on making this run, but with doing the Blue Ridge Pkwy run last weekend with Tar Heel and the temps this week I ain't gonna make it. Just too much to do around the house. The temps this week had us at the shop by 6 AM so the guys could leave by 3. Of course I stayed till regular closing time, 6 PM. So 12 hours plus 90 degree heat left little energy to catch up on what I didn't do last weekend. I hate to miss this run too, it looks like it's a blast!

I know, I know, and yes, I WOULD like some cheese with that whine! 044

It does sound like fun.  But we have a schedule conflict.  We are going to Kitty Hawk NC to eat at Jimmy's Buffet where there are 10 kinds of crab legs and free lobster tails!

Bummer.  I had finally made amends to go.  I was unsure if mom would be able to go for seafood at Jimmy's on Sunday due to her recent root canal.  But we will probably go to that.
