That's right folks a whole day at the beach!!!!
I have rented the Lighthouse Shelter at Buckroe Beach in Hampton for Sunday, September 12th.
Here is the general idea. We have the shelter from 7am to 8pm. It comes equipped with grill and picnic tables.
Elaine and I will be working out the plans so contact either one of us for whatever you need or to list a dish you want to bring. I like listing what people are bringing so we don't get 25 bowls of potato salad!
POST what you plan to bring. If you don't do the cooking thing, then offer up the paper products.
Since everyone needs to plan for the number of people I really need a good RSVP from you.
The shelter is paid for rain or shine. So if it rains, come anyway!!!
The beach is actually part of the Hampton Parks and Recreation property. That means no alcohol on the property. This will be a family and guest friendly event. We will be able to see the beach and bay from our party location. There is nice calm swimming areas, an observation pier, a fishing pier (for additional fee), concrete boardwalk (oxymoron?) and bike paths.
Things to bring: Your personal selection of drinks to add to the group cooler A food or supply for sharing sun hat/cap sunglasses sunscreen swimsuit towels beach blanket bikes if you want perhaps bug spray camera water floats, rings, water wings, floating loungers (with drink holders) beach chairs or folding chairs fishing rod kayak, canoe (whichever fits in your MINI)
your own breakfast if you want to come real early and spend the day
Fishing Pier notes: No fishing license required. Adults $8.00 each children or adult with fishing lisc $6.00
Dogs: Dogs are permitted inside of Bark Park only, not on any other grounds including the picnic shelter.
Group Cooler? Bring the number of beverages - non-alcoholic - you plan to drink during the full day of fun. Throw them in the group cooler. Pull out anything you find refreshing when it comes to drinking time. Limit the number of drinks to the number you contributed.

Well as my schedule sees it....that "would" be a weekend I have off. But I have to plan this by ear. Non-Alcoholic beverages at the beach? Yeh i'll keep a cooler in the boot..

Dang! Wish this was the following weekend when I'm going to be in town with my nephew .. (not probable that I can make the drive two weekends in a row, not with my current crazy work schedule .. )

I'll watch from shore. I don't do salt water and the sand kills my feet. But I'll be there and have a great time with all my MINI friends.

Summer is slipping away. Only 3 weeks til the MINI Family Beach Picnic. I changed the original post somewhat. Everybody bring some food to share and post what you plan to bring with the number of people you plan to bring.
Dave and I will bring Bubba Burgers, charcoal, lots of ice and the rolls and condiments for the burgers.

Hey all, It sounds like so far we have: Baked Beans, Cole slaw, hot dogs and buns, Bubba Burgers and buns, condiments Charcoal, ice. Steve and I will bring potato salad, bbq chicken wings and water. We need paper products including plastic ware if someone wants to sign up for those. Some other ideas are pasta salad, deviled eggs (hint Adam), chips, etc. Before we know it, it will be time to enjoy another great event. As always, lots of minis and the great people who drive them. Oh yeah, we cannot forget our former mini owners. You know who you are. Please join us. You may not have a mini now, but you will always be part of the crowd. PS: It would be nice to see lots of new faces and some that we do not see very often. Remember that the only way we get to know each other is to come out and enjoy. It took Steve and I some time to become part of the group. Wow are we glad that we kept on coming.
