I finally got to use my clubdoor because I had 2 people riding with me, that was nice.  I've put stuff in the back seat before, taking advantage of the "convenient entry" but always from the driver's side sliding the seat forward and letting the "seat memory" kick in when putting it back.  So here's the question:
Does the passenger seat have the "seat memory" on it too?
Mine does not work if it is supposed to.  Every time I tried to get the seat back where it was before using the "convenient entry," the passenger seat would slide all the way back.  Despite various attempts, I have had no luck in getting the "seat memory" to work on that seat.  My GTI had the same problem on the passenger seat and it consistently broke getting fixed under warranty 4 times before I finally gave up and accepted the fact that it just wasn't supposed to work.
I figured that both seats would feature this, but also thought that maybe they did not include it on the clubmans since there is an extra door on the passenger side.  Does anyone else's do this, or is mine an anomaly?  Is it a German thing?
Thanks for any help/advice!  I wanted to know other people's experience with this before taking a trip to the service department.

I just went and checked my 09 Clubbie and my passenger seat returns to it's original location. I tried it in several positions and returned each time. I also check the seat back location as well. It too, returned to the position is was before. Not sure what to tell ya. 102

The trick to "seat memory" is you have to push the seat back in the tracks before you return the back support to its upright position.  If you put the back support up first, it will lock into its location, and you have to manually slide the seat again yourself with the lever.

That's when it shows that it's not working.  When I do the slide back, no matter what position the seat was in before, it slides all the way back on the rails.  If it's the same as how the VW seat worked, it's a complex system of cables, latches and blocks.  It's actually quite ingenious.

Between the seat memory issue and a terrible dash rattle from ~2000-2300rpm that won't go away, guess it's gonna take a trip to the service department at Checkered Flag.  Anything to look out for if I take it there?

If one seat is latching properly, but the other is not, yes, I would say a trip to CF is needed.  Might be as simple as they need to change out that lever.  Not sure what to say on dash rattles.  Many MINIs do this.  Mine does now, but only after I changed out my OEM engine mount for the TSW (it's solid polyurethane).

After spending an exhaustive 5 minutes toying with the seat yesterday, it miraculously started working.  Maybe it was slamming the seat all the way back or forward, but something tripped and the "seat memory" finally kicked in.
Now if the rattle would just disappear...maybe that's what the radio volume is for 023

Thanks for the suggestions and for checking on this for me!

The dash top pad comes off pretty easy. Maybe we could pop that off and ride with ya to do some diagnosing.

Hmm, you make me want to go back and look at my Bentley Manual.  I could have sworn the 1st-Gen dashes come off as a large one-piece item only after the speedo dial and other front components were removed.
