Okay HR MINI, here's your chance. throw out some ideas for events you'd like to see in the upcoming year. Have an idea? Throw it out there.

But be forewarned. If you have a good idea, or even a popular mediocre idea, you might just get persuaded into making it a reality!

So go ahead, throw 'em out there!

Hey Dale, the thread says Ideas for events in 2010, but aren't we just about out of time in 2010?

Just being a pain!  LOL  I just hope I'll actually be able to make some of the fun in 2011!  I'm pretty sure at least 4 months of next year will be at sea.  Grrr.

Chincoteague could include a tour of the NASA Goddard visitor center, the surrounding wetlands, or perhaps an extended trip to Ocean City, MD.

What about a run to the New River Gorge Bridge?  I saw you had mentioned something about that in response to Don's pics!  Its really nice up there.

Funny you mention that. As I type, I have another browser window open planning a run through rural WV. There are some roads in that area that I very much enjoy. I think my MINI buddies might as well. It would need to be an overnight run at a minimum, if not a weekend thing. It stays pretty chilly out that way until late spring, so I'm thinking maybe an early summer run. Maybe late May. Just need to make sure we avoid the Dragon. I'm not gonna miss that again this year!

Don't you guys do a Spring Fling run? Would the New River Gorge be that, or is this a whole different thing?

On a weather note: I drove to Clarksburg, WV, to see my Mom yesterday. The top of Cheat Mountain was covered with snow and ice! Remember how nice it was a few weeks ago? I'd just put 4 new snow tires on the Clubman on Thursday. Worked like a charm--no problems. Of course Dale reminded me, on the FCR, that my old tires looked like racing slicks. He was right, but I already knew that.  045

WOW J.P.! Snow already? I guess them mountains are great for twisties but certainly not with those roda conditions! Glad the new tires worked for ya.

I think a new River Run might be after the Spring Fling. We've talked about it down here and I think we'll do like last year and combine our Saturday spring run with DC Metro MINI's Sunday Spring Fling. That worked well last year.

The road that goes under the new river gorge bridge is pretty cool, not in best condition, but cool none the less.  You could see from Don's pics some of that road.  Once you cross the lower bridge, there is a great place to park and hike out to an old abandoned mining town, but don't know who might be up for that.  Either way, the falls at the beginning of the trail are awesome about 1/8 to 1/4 mile in.

So nobody has any ideas for upcoming events?

Throw 'em out there, doesn't matter how silly it sounds. Hey, we went to Chincoteague for ice cream! Nothing is too outlandish to suggest, Afternoon run, over night run, weekend run? You name it we'll consider it. and remember, "If you plan it, They will come"!

Thinking about a day run up to the Northern Neck/ Urbanna area, for sightseeing, road running and a nice meal. What do you think ? Anyone know any good eating places up that way ?
