In Tappahannock there's always Lowery's. Good food at a good price. Over in Irvington there's the Tide's Inn. Classy, but a bit pricier I bet. Might be worth a try though with tourist season ending. Irvington is real pretty too. Thinking about a day run up to the Northern Neck/ Urbanna area, for sightseeing, road running and a nice meal. What do you think ? Anyone know any good eating places up that way ?

if you like italian food there is ROMAS in tappahanock. near my house in west point there are a few places including NICKS, which is good, depending on whos working. but i usually avoid nicks unless im sure whos cooking that night. i can tell you sundays are always good! (the lousy cook is off on sunday). ive heard great things about anna's in west point but i havent personally eaten there yet. but honestly if you want good food you have to go to gloucester or tappahanock. and if you do come up my way i can point out some nice twistie roads through the woods and cornfields. it actually is pretty if you like rural settings.

Funny you mention that. As I type, I have another browser window open planning a run through rural WV. There are some roads in that area that I very much enjoy. I think my MINI buddies might as well. It would need to be an overnight run at a minimum, if not a weekend thing. It stays pretty chilly out that way until late spring, so I'm thinking maybe an early summer run. Maybe late May. Just need to make sure we avoid the Dragon. I'm not gonna miss that again this year!
does your proposed WV run head in as far as huntington? megans got family there she hasnt seen in 8 years, were going up there for thanksgiving and planning a return trip there in the spring. if yur proposed trip goes towards there it would be neat to plan my trip to correlate with your drive up there. just thinkin out loud.
Not too far from there. The furthest west we'll go would be close to Beckley. But there are great roads all through WV. I have talked to some MINI owners from the Cincy area and they were interested something in central/western WV. Could surely be worth a look.

Dale,
Just something for the recesses of our minds - a mashup event for THMMC and HRMINI. I'm looking for some roads now that might be nice located about halfway between HR and Raleigh. Looks like the Roanoke Rapids area might work. If there is interest, we'll need to find a date.

Sounds good to me Jeff. I don't know of any around there, but it's only 3 hours or so from us. I'm sure a fair amount of HR MINI folks would show. Just let us know buddy!

Here are some ideas................for MINI owners who are race fans like me : Baltimore Grand Prix @ Inner Harbor September 2-4 featuring the IZOD IndyCar series, Indy Lights, American LeMans Series (prototype and GT classes), Star Mazda series, and FF2000. Similar to the Washington D.C ALMS weekend back in 2002 only better I expect (Indy wasn't part of the 2002 weekend) . There is going to be a big parking area (Oriole Park @ Camden Yards) for car corrals. Don't know if there is anything planned/in the works for MINIs. Would be awesome to have lots of MINI representation! I bought 3-day passes (Turn 1) for the fam last night http://www.baltimoregrandprix.com/------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Rolex Grand-Am race (prototype and GT classes) at VIR this year is scheduled for Saturday, May 14. A group drive to the event would be cool. We did one back in 2003 or 2004 from here in Richmond but only had a handful of cars. http://www.grand-am.com/schedule/event.cfm?series=r&eid=2355

Last year we went to the Rolex Grand AM at VIR and there was a special parking area for MINI's and we all got to drive a parade lap. I think it was Tar Heel MINI's that put it together. I would love to go again this year. I have a friend who ownes a car in the Continental Tire Challenge, would love to see his car run again. Oh and don't forget I got to meet Dr. McDreamy too!
