Hey Gang, Daniel and I were talking tonight and the subject of driving came up. So I got to thinking (scary huh?) how about a MINI only drivers day?

I'm pretty sure I can still get Langley Speedway for a day. We'd use the infield, FAR AWAY from any WALLS! For those with very little experience, we could do some simple braking and control things. Just to A) give you an idea of what your MINI can do and B) give you some emergency maneuver skills. You'll be a much safer driver if you know what your car is going to do and what to do when it does what it does.

We could discuss the entry and exit of different corners and "reading" a course. Maybe a little classroom session.

Lastly, we could do some test and tune stuff. Show what tire pressures do to cornering and handling.

We'd have to have a few instructors and I'd want to limit the number of MINI owners that attend.

With the last management group at the track, they offered us to use their insurance. I can check and see if that's still an option. So give me some thoughts to see if you think this would be something worth looking into.

Just to show off a little, here's a video of this years Wacky Wednesdays at Langley. For those that don't know, I've raced at Langley for years! Including 7 years in Legends cars. I announce on Wednesday's and some of the guys let me drive their cars every now and then. Unfortunately, I usually beat their times in their cars. This clip is me driving a mean little Honda hatch prepared by Custom Car Care in Yorktown. Of course, they declined to tell me they took the sticky tires off until AFTER I got back in the pits. As I demonstrated, you can hang the rear out on a front wheel drive car and save it with a lot of throttle and steering.

Langley Speedway
Click on the link and go to the 1:09 mark for the red Honda.

From what I'm told, I *should* sign up.  Apparently there are some who think I'm a bad driver...  icon_rolleyes 102

When I have 300 years of experience and the time and disposable income to construct a car strictly for autocross I'll race your Mini and your Datsun and spank both handily!  110
