Hey Gang, As I sit here, eyes glazed over from wrapping, cooking and a college bowl game and too long of a flight back, I started putting thoughts together. Scary I know.
I'm thinking about the possibilities of a major, East Coast MINI event. We could have the kick off year this year. I'm thinking a 75-100 MINI's wouldn't be too hard to do. Hell, we get 40+ for our FCR, Tar Heel gets 40+ for their Blue Ridge Pkwy Tour and DC gets nearly a hundred for a lap of the beltway death trap. SO here's my idea:
The Mid Atlantic MINI Nationals (or something like that)
3 day event
Williamsburg area
MINI show and shine with trophies
Short rally
Cruise through the historic district
Parkway Cruise to Yorktown for ice cream
It would take lots of planning but with a few people or groups working on key elements it wouldn't be that difficult. We could use this year as a guide for what works for a bigger roll out next year. Things like sponsors and vendors.
And there would be lots of other things to do in the area if family members didn't wanna be saddled down with event stuff. Shopping, Busch Gardens, Water country, etc.
Think it would be worth it?

Hell yeah! I have a bigger thought though... How about this. Since 2012 is *supposed* to be the end of the planet, we start planning now for spring 2012 and have a Mini THE WORLD IS ENDING, OMG! RUN! event. Choose and set a date THAT WILL NOT CHANGE COME HELL, HURRICANE OR HIGH WATER More later, I have to get back to cooking

I would suggest that we use this as an opportunity to bring Waylan to town, since the stand-alone Mod Party doesn't seem to gaining any traction on it's own. Depending on the numbers, we could probably keep the boy busy the entire time.
How about a MINI only autocross at Langley?

Dale, your idea sounds wonderful, and what a great place to have it. Just think, a Mini/MINI Historical event of Biblical proportions being held in such an Historical area. The OMG the worlds going to end soon event sounds pretty sweet too. I'm not sure what I could do to help this come along, but when the task list is put together, I'll give it a shot. I'd like very much to see something truly different for the Mini/MINI group come along that would be truly news worthy.
P.S. Yeah, I finally got back in, don't ask me how, it only took about six attempts. (Dale will know what this means).

I say yes too Dale. It's been a while since I have really been on the MINI site. I like most have had tons going on and mostly work and that always seems to win.
Let me know what I can do.

If this plans starts to take shape, depending on the dates ect, I think some NEMINI folk would make the trek down... We could pose the run on NEMINI.org and see if there are any takers.
