I went down here on a whim Saturday afternoon after finding out my brother had a couple extra tickets from being a student at Chesapeake Center for Science and Technology.
Took a few pictures and posted
http://hr404.smugmug.com/Cars/HRADA-Autoshow-2011/15378104_9nbjN. I've been quite a few times to the show and the lighting is always terrible, you need a tripod or extremely steady hands to shoot quality pictures I think. Please disregard the horribleness that is in the gallery I gave up taking pictures about .5 way through.
I did spend some time at the 2 Countryman (Countrymen???) they had at the MINI display and at first impression, they are ginormous! The interior front is very reminiscent of other minis, minus the ride height, but the rear seats leave something to be desired. The window switches in the back need some serious work and it
fells like there's more room in the cluman back seat despite the fact that it
looks significantly bigger. Also the parking brake seems like it was totally an afterthought. The headlight holes in the bonnet also seem like something out of theme park they are so big, some things just don't translate well.
Overall it was a fun time, especially since it was free. There was some fun things to ogle over like the new Mustang Boss 302, an LMP1 Audi R8 (not that new one, a race car), Corvette Zr-1 and some others. Also for any JEEP fans, they had the new Grand Cherokee and it feels like a $1,000,000 compared to the last one I sat in. There was also a couple of the new Saab 95's there and they seemed quite comfy. I think the biggest disappointment though was the entirely too long a line to sit in a new M3 and the X6, neither of which I could muster an attempt at. Come on people...X6 is about as keen on the eyes as a Toyota Venza (don't get me started) and the M3 doesn't seem entirely special anymore at it's price point.
Sorry Dale, didn't mean to hijack your thread into a "What was at the Autoshow?"
