Since we've been through some transitions here at HR MINI, I'm really hoping the site stay up and running. I've renewed the website hosting with Jim and Shannon Haltom, so I knwo we're good there. Monday I renewed the domain registration with Hostway, which is who I'm "fairly" sure registered the domain. Today O got another "Website renewal"  email from a company I haven't heard of. Odd, because I haven't had any dealings with them and they had my email. pretty sure that was just a phishing attempt.

Either way, the 22nd is the day. I'll be on most all of the day, so I'll know if something happens. If it does (And I really don't think it will) I'll know and enough people here know how to get in touch with me. Worse case, use our FaceBook page.

Why do I get Deja Vu with Y2K all over again.......

Knew this day was bound to come one day. Dale, we really need to keep this or some such site up and running in my opinion.
I know you have been working this issue on your own, but please remember, we are a GROUP. We are here to help, and I for one want you to know that I am here, waiting and willing to do anything to help in keeping this web site up and running. You have stepped up and taken all of this on by yourself, and I thank you for doing that, but do NOT hesitate to ask for assistance  with ANY part of keeping this site open and functioning !!!!!!

Yes, it was most likely a phishing attempt.

Domain registration info is public and bots can be created to find "expiration dates" and companies will make contact in hopes of reaching a newb.

I just checked register.com and the domain name expires on 01/22/12.

Register.com will let you check domain name availability and the whois lookup gives the background info.

Just wait until you get an email from Chang Li informing you that a company in China is trying to register hrmini.cn and they think it may infringe on hrmini.com.  They can fix it - for a fee of course.  In small unmarked bills.  120

I don't do Facebook, and never will. So, if by chance this site vanishes, it's been nice chatting with you all. Hopefully that won't be the case.

Good to hear. I'd hate to think about you guys yukking it up on Facebook while I'm sitting here staring at a blank screen. Carry on.

Well I can't really do much from across the pond. But if disaster strikes. I still have my hosting providers and a hefty amount of HD space to use.... But it seems to be working still. *Crosses fingers*  001

Yea, we'll be fine. Just wasn't exactly sure if the domain registration renewal was done correctly. Still a virgin at that. Though the site is running a bit slow it seems. I have an email headed to Jim as we speak abut that.

Yes, domain name information is public.  That's why I pay my provider an extra fee to keep the information private.  I rarely seen offers from other domain name providers at my webmaster e-mail address.

My concerns are site slowness and having run out of hard drive space for posting photos.  Besides Photo Bucket, I'm thankful I run my own web server and can link photos to it.  But it would be nice to upload some to the forum, too.
