Schultze's clutch died with approx 71380 miles on the clock as of 01/18.

Babied him up to Auto Haus in Yorktown and they did a FANTASTIC job!

BIG PLUS:  Auto Haus put me into a 2002 VW Jetta loaner.  (While it's not a MINI, it's a loaner and THAT was a big deal for me at that exact moment!)

It cost $1650 to replace the clutch/flywheel and replace some transmission fluid that was lost during the process.

I paid an extra $350 in labor to have other stuff done while the areas were easily accessible:

Replaced front swaybar bushings (OEM)
Replaced control arm bushings (Powerflex) *biggest labor item
Replaced gearbox mount bushings (Powerflex)
Replaced steering rack bushing (Powerflex)

I bought Schultze on 01/13/07 with only 16 miles on the clock.  NEVER did his clutch operate as smoothly as it does right now!  E.V.E.R!!!  In fact, there were several times I brought him into the dealership to have it checked and was always told "nothing was wrong & it's in specs".

I picked up Schultze from Auto Haus on 01/21/11 and he's a completely different MINI!  (71415 miles on the clock)

The new clutch/flywheel is SO STIFF (LOVE IT!!!) that I bunny-hopped a few times (never lost engine power) before realizing just how different the new clutch was from the old one.  I actually called Auto Haus to confirm they replaced it OEM and they did.

When I bought Schultze on 01/13/07, the drive home was non-stop grins & laughter because it was so much fun to drive!

Comparing Schultze 01/13/07 to Schultze 01/21/11 there is a MASSIVE difference!  I was laughing & grinning & giggling so much on the way back to my office in Greenbrier that my son, Johnathan, thought I had lost my marbles.   101

I've fallen in love with my little blue guy all over again.   055

I am definitely recommending Auto Haus to ANYONE who needs repair work out-of-warranty.

The service was impeccable and the communication updates were timely and informative.

Thanks, Auto Haus!!!   023

Without a doubt Erika, that's GOT to be the most colorful and passionate report on an auto repair that I've ever heard. Evidently, you're pleased.

Glad you got the new clutch in.   023

Yes, Autohaus rocks.  When I went in for an oil change the other week, I was told they have a MINI certified tech on hand.  And their team seems to be a big fan of MINIs.  I always get looks and compliments when I go up there.  Autohaus really has a homey atmosphere.

A quick comment on on the bunny-hopping.  That's the instant clamping force of your clutch to the flywheel.  I made the comment to a mechanic friend of mine a long time ago about how my MINIs do that (both old and current).  His comment was four-cylinder engines have a low torque at low RPMs.  That's why I have to give it a little extra gas when letting out the clutch in 1st gear.  Just gotta be careful... too much makes for spinning tires and torque steer.   080

That kind of rave review couldn't be bought. I now know for sure that Auto Haus is the place to go on this side of the water for mechanical service on a MINI.
I service there paint shop, and I'm frequently passing by the dealership. It's not uncommon for them to have at least one MINI for sale most times. Servicing them just makes sense, they also do sooooo much BMW work, and since the two are related in mechanical design, it's a no brainer.

i LOVE autohouse. patrick in the parts department is awesome. changed my cvt fluid, he sold me some of the dealer stuff and saved a ton, bought a new glovebox, yes the entire glovebox not just the door. 125 bucks. if you own a german (or british) car then autohouse is most definitely the place to go for parts and service.

That's great to know. I might just change my MINI service vendor to Autohaus. Maybe we should talk to the about discounts/sponsorship.

As passionate as I believe the folks at Auto Haus to be, I think that's a definite possibility.   109
