I'm working a deal with Phil at BSH Speedshop on the purchase of their Catch Can for the second gen MINI S. I would like to know about how many people would be interested in one or two.... I haven't received a price yet but I'm sure it will be lower than the web site @$179.00.
http://www.bshspeedshop.com/store/bsh-competition-catch-can-w-dipstick-o-ring-drain-plug.html

OK I've received this info back from Phil @BSH. Now I'll try and set up a PayPal account and see how many we can get.

R56 Catch Can with drain plug and Dip Stick: $179.95
3-5 Kits $169.95
6-9 Kits: $159.95
10-19 Kits: $149.95
20+ Kits: $139.95

As a bonus, each Boost Tap purchased with a catch can kit will be $10 off and each motor mount will be $99

I'm in for two, one for each MINI. Having to replace a motor, I'm willing to do anything short of a voodoo dance to make the motor in my Clubbie live a little longer.

This Oil Catch Can will hopefully save our engines or until MINIUSA acknowledges the problem with the engines.  Here's a link on NAM about using the Catch Can and the benefits.

Steve:  Check your PMs.

Mike:  No....I didn't ask if the OCC will work on my Justa.   075

If memory serves, I was told one time that the oil catch can was actually not a good idea on 1st-gen MCS', or at least not really needed.  This NAM Article elaborates a bit on that.  It never really appeared like there was really that much oily film inside the intercooler on my old '02 MCS or my current '06 MCS.

I have definitely read to otherwise on the 2nd-gen MCS with turbo.  I'm sure a lack of the PCV system contributes to this.  As for Justa Coopers, the lack of a boostfed system means the blowby factor is much less.  I don't think it would hurt, but I also think the catch can will take much longer to fill up.

Been thinking about this for a while.  Anyone know if your warranty still valid after the installation?

It shouldn't affective the warranty. If you read the post on NAM this may just help save your motor.

170 bucks versus 7 grand for a motor. Both of mine are getting one, group buy or not. I've been told by one MINI service director and by a major independent service shop that the crankcase ventilation may nor may not be part of the cause of the carbon buildup. Either way, mine are getting one!

I have a correction to make.  The '07-'10 MCS has a dual PCV system setup.  This NAM thread might shed some additional light on the topic.  At one point, it is suggested R56 owners install two catch cans or run a water meth setup.  It looks like there is also a suggestion to get an aftermarket tune (which would help optimize proper air/fuel burn).

Based on that, I am guessing the '11 MCS has a PCV system design change.  If I find more information, I will add it to this thread.

If you put the oil catch can on your car and have a problem don't take it to Checked Flag. They will not honor the warranty. When I had problems with the 04 after Checked Flag changed the oil I took it back to them. They called in the MINI tocome and look at it and they blamed the issue on the after market oil catch can.

Well, I've found an issue with the whole catch can idea.  I have the BSH and went to install it.  I also have the DDM Works Race Intake.  Well, the intake tube moves to the driver's side taking away the spot behind the intake tube to mount it, and the factory air intake tube stays in place taking away the spot up on the frame.  I guess I have to look into a different location or different air intake, which is probably more likely since the DDM has had some issue with other options I've had.

I'm closing out this deal. I bought the oil catch can and boost tap from Way Motor Works this week for $232.00w/ S/H.  I've powder coated them candy red and will have them installed tomorrow.
