Hey Folks, I wanna do a MINI show this year. I'm thinking the Vineyard Run would be an ideal scenario. Probably won't have wash facility on premises though. I do have a couple of other locations that could work as well, but I'm thinking this could be a great gathering point.

I'm thinking something with trophies and judging (whether with actual judges or participant choice). Charge an entry fee (money or animal supplies) to support the shelter.

Only down side I see is the loooong dirt road heading in. That would be the only deal breaker I can see.

Input appreciated.

I like it !  The dusty road is a bit of an issue, but it will be the same for everyone that enters their car. A little TLC and a California Duster should clean up all the cars well enough as long as they start the day clean and we don't see any wet weather driving. I like the judging format like they use at the MOTD car show. If we do it at the vineyard I'm guessing we will need some type of sign to designate the cars that are entered. Let's do it !

The closest show to this around here is the one that has been held previously at the Williamsburg Winery (not sure where it has moved to).  It uses a peer judging style (i.e. those that enter the contest judge for the best of each category).  The only thing is the show is usually held the same weekend as MOTD.  I participated back in 2007 and tied for 2nd place.  It's a great show.  Everyone has the same enthusiastic personality, regardless of whether they drive a Spitfire or a Ferrari.

I was also pondering maybe holding the contest in a park somewhere around Richmond.  However, we would probably have to set it up with with the park service.  Perhaps a show at Moss MINI?  I do realize it is much easier arranging the show with someone we already know, such as Jacque.

Well as long as I am home and not underway. I am all for a Mini show. I have some things I should have pieced together by then after deployment that I would not be able to wait to show off.  045

Trust me folks, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG DIRT entry roads and car shows do not go together well. A good flow of water is a must and even if that's available, everybody would want to use it and it would just turn into a car wash party.  022

A park is always a nice setting if you get in early enough and pick the sunniest/shadiest spots.

Actually, the folks at Moss Motors were talking about the possibilty of hosting an all field British car show at some time in the future, not just a MINI/Mini show.

She ain't kidding either!

John, I am in agreement. Thinking a gravel road and 100+ MINI's might make for a busy day keeping one's MINI/Mini clean.

As for the folks at Moss, I'd be interested in a show there, but I have no interest in sharing the spot light with other British cars. I love 'em, don't get me wrong. But I'm a MINI guy. I want a MINI/Mini only show.

Besides, I am still a bit miffed that we drove up there and only got a 10% discount. The following week I got a 10% coupon from Moss in the mail. Tell me again, what did I save driving up there? Really thinking we need 15% or more next time!

You didn't get a 10% coupon and a tour and lunch in the mail did you?   017

Hmm, probably not,but it didn't take a tank of gas to have it arrive in my mail box. Tour was cool though.

At least you got 10% off.  The last three times I used that e-mail coupon, I had to call Moss and tell them to apply it to my bill.  They kept charging me full price.   076
