I sent the folks at Cooper Vineyards an email last night to see if everyone was alright and if there was any damage from the earthquake that would affect the rally on Saturday. I recieved a reply this morning stating that they did sustain some structural damage, and a little spilled wine, but everything was repairable and being fixed. They are open for business and looking forward to our arrival on Saturday. Check their website today for the full update report.

I spoke with Jacque finally. Apparently she's been overwhelmed with inquiries about their well being and status.
WE ARE STILL ON.....depending on the weather.
She is going to get with the caterer and find out what their ultimate drop dead time is to pull the plug on the event. She left it up to me on to make the decision. As of right now, I saw we do it! I've been checking with everybody I know to keep an eye on the weather including a contact at NASA that's been sending me updates almost hourly.
As of now, Saturday looks a bit iffy HERE, but out their way it almost looks clear. Thursday is a more likely indicator on which way the weather will go.
But for now, plan on motoring and tasting some vino!

I was going to try to make the run this year; went a few years ago and had a blast. I guess it's all up to Mother Nature now.

I heard a rumor that between the earthquake, several aftershocks, and that unpleasant lady Irene, they have decided to postpone the event on Sat. No new date yet -- they will let everyone know!
Anyone know anything???

Mini-Cooper Rally Postponed due to Severe Weather Threat
New Date: September 24, 2011
We survived the Louisa Earthquake, but now we must survive Irene. The MINI Cooper Rally will be postponed due to the threat of severe weather. Our tasting room will be open. Advance ticket purchases can be used for the rescheduled event or can be issued a refund.

DANG, Y'all don't waste any time! Jacque and I decided to pull the plug on the event this morning. Not much of a problem at the vineyard from the quake, but the area is very busy with media people and sightseers, it's pretty crowded up there on the roads. Add the impending weather issues, we decided to postpone this weekends activities. Well on the bright side, I might be able to make it now. I doubt it since I am depending on the Navy to get me home, but I can always hope. Glad to hear there wasn't much damage. Hope Irene doesn't make too much of a mess.
