I ordered the JCW carbon fiber dash for my new MCSC (arriving sometime in SeptOber!), but I had one question.

The description on the Mini Site says that the dash has a JCW logo near the speedometer, or I guess near the Chrono pack on my car.  Does anyone know how big or small the logo is?  The picture on the Mini Site isn't very clear, and Simon at CF can't remember ever seeing the carbon dash in person.

I only care because I don't want it to look like I'm trying to pass my car off as a JCW model (which it isn't).  I just *really* like carbon fiber. (I can blame that on my motorcycling background.  On the Ducati boards, we jokingly call carbon fiber "Italian Chrome".

So anyway, if anyone has a picture of the carbon dash, particularly the JCW logo, I'd really appreciate seeing it.

Thanks,
Scott

There have been a lot of these pictures posted on MINI2. Go do a quick search for JCW dash. :)

Thanks for the quick response!  Turns out the JCW logo is fairly small.  It's underneath one of the round A/C vents and is only about as wide as the vent itself.  So that's the good news.

Bad news, I guess Mini is being hit by the worldwide carbon fiber shortage, because shortly after I ordered my car, Simon called me back and told me that the prices had gone up on a couple of the carbon fiber pieces.  I don't remember all of the new prices, but I know that the installed price of the dash went up by about $250 or so.

At least all the bits I ordered were still available (dash, bonnet scoop, mirror covers, rear hatch handle).  A lot of the aftermarket carbon parts (both for the Mini and for my motorcycle) are backordered into the foreseeable future because of the shortage.

Oh, and thanks for pointing me to MINI2!   Previously, I had just been visiting HRmini and NAM.  Now I have another place to check out.

You'll see some familiar names on MINI2. ;) It's an amazing international community, nothing else compares.

Yep - I've been watching those CF parts (and others) on eBay for the last few months.  The prices have already started to creep up, and if the carbon cloth shortage continues, the typical progression is that the prices will continue to rise as vendors/manufacturers deplete their stock, then the prices will spike right before the vendors run out, and then the parts just won't be available at any price until the supplies of raw CF cloth become more reliable.

I think the current shortage has only started recently, which is probably why Simon didn't have the updated prices when we sat down together and ordered my car Wednesday.

Looking at the M7 website, it looks like all of their carbon bits are already either unavailable, or there's a warning to call first to check on availibility.
