Sounds like fun to me. I'm not any good at planning picnics but tell me where and when and I'll do my best to be there. May eve be able to bring the grandkids.  038

Perhaps we can find a park shelter this year without a hole in the middle of the roof.  So if it does rain, we can get out of it a bit!  Any favorite places people?

Hard to beat the scenery at Buckroe. Plus it's close to me, but I'm willing to travel.

We can opt for Huntington Park / War memorial Museum.  Yorktown is a possibility, though I don't think there are any covered picnic areas.  We could even do Ft. Monroe; they do have some covered areas there.

I can try for Buckroe.  I have to make a trip to the Parks and Rec to see if they have any openings.  I kinda liked the beach area myself.  I'll look them up and see if I can stop by over the weekend.  If there is a spring weekend available, I'll put the deposit down.

There is a little planned construction to take place at Buckroe.  I don't think it will really get in the way:  http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41987578.

There are many, many beaches on this side of the tunnel. Just saying.

Point me to one with picnic tables and such.  I had a hard time finding one last year.

I went to a picnic years ago at a park along the Intracoastal Water Way. Anybody know about that one? Don't remember any shelters though.

I think that may be Munden Point in Pungo. It's very nice.

It's Great Bridge Locks Park. Was a super nice place 5 or 6 years ago.

Might be worth a look at.

Locks Park is pretty nice.  I haven't been down to Munden Point before though.

Anybody from the southside wanna take the reigns and set this up? I think Chesapeake residents can rent a shelter cheaper than outsiders. That is in Chesapeake, isn't it?

Any takers willing to secure us a shelter for a picnic on Southside?  If not, I will go to Hampton and try to secure Buckroe Beach for picnic this Saturday.
