Ok, I just posted a "what's the plan?" inquiry on the other thread and now I see this one .. so is there an HR MINIs contingent planning to go on June 4th? If so, heading over Friday night, or Saturday AM? (thinking Saturday AM would be a pretty early alarm!)

I see the notice posted on the THMMC forum, too .. there seems to be some interest but also still in the planning stages (w/o much time .. )

Thanks!

So did this idea peter out with the HR MINIs?

I'm still planning on it .. trying to decide about staying Friday night in Mt Airy area or Wytheville ... the difference being the Saturday AM alarm clock ..

But if any HR MINIs are going and spending Friday night, let me know as that might be a deciding factor. (Undecided about heading home Saturday late (after the 3-4pm drive) or spending Saturday night and heading back to NC on Sunday since I could make an excuse to be in GSBO on Sunday ... )

Anybody?

Susan, It seems as most of our HRMINI people are already committed to other things , and will not be doing the " Back of the Dragon" opening event  :-(   I wanted to go, but Kathy and I are going to the Outer Banks instead. It's our wedding anniversary on the 3rd. so we are going to be chillin at the beach instead. Finances and time off from work doesn't allow for us to do both.

I know that Harry Gerwin and his wife are planning to attend.

Susan, lots going on this weekend with the long weekend, Pungo Strawberry Parade and the Rocking Mini Event. I'm sure plans will start showing up here soon.  I believe I saw Erika(Sneezy) was going.

MINIS planning to attend this event .. FYI .. Several of us are in Wytheville this evening and will be leaving from the La Quinta at 815am if anyone heads this way and wants to stage here. It is about 50 - 60 minutes from here. Some others will meet up with us here in am for breakfast at 730 and we'll caravan together. Since this will be a mixed venue of MCs & MCs (motorcycles & MINIs) it seems like it would make a best showing if the MINIs are together (and I'm not familiar enough w Tazewell to know if there is a local logical staging place .. anyone w ideas please let me know!)

I'm sure my contact # is on the forum but since I likely won't be checking back before the event, give me a call as appropriate 9I9 6O6 65I5

Have a great weekend with whatever your plans may be!!

Any info avail about the BOTD this past weekend??

It was a good time ... there were 6 MINIs, I think; HR MINIs represented and THMMC, too .. we were outnumbered by motorcycles probably 50 to 1, however! Maybe next year a better showing of MINIs!

Fun roads .. both Hwy 16 as well as 614 aka Grapefield Road (my GPS had us taking that from Wytheville to Tazewell) definitely worthy of some additional driving time ..

The BOTD drive was slow from Tazewell to Marion as would be expected with that many vehicles on the road, but the return drive - which only some of us did - was much better since, well, only some of us did it .. :-)

I don't see it replacing the Tail of the Dragon anytime soon .. more sweeping curves, less tight, and no facility right there such as Fontana to house everyone at one location. We lunched at Macado's in Marion and there are definitely places worthy of a visit, but it's hard to imagine it would be an area that hundreds would want to spend the better part of a week in, but the Dragon had to start somewhere ..

Several took photos so hopefully some will get posted ..
