Mid Atlantic Minis invites classic Mini owners to join us on a two-day scenic drive of Virginia, on Saturday and Sunday, June 4&5, 2011.
Starting out from Virginia Beach, our route will take us traveling northbound up the peninsula and middle peninsula, through the Fredericksburg area, and continuing up to Front Royal. From there we will pick up the scenic Skyline Drive and head south, stopping over night at the
Peaks of Otter Lodge, which is situated right along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Bedford. On the second day we will continue south and exit the Parkway near Roanoke. From there we will travel back towards the Petersburg area, at which point many of us will split off and travel our separate ways home. We will be rendezvousing at points along the way with various
MAM members and friends from the Capital Mini Register from the northern Virginia area. The roads throughout the two days will be comprised mainly of two and four lane secondary and rural roads, and Virginia Scenic Byways only, with the slight exception of a very short stretch of I-64 while in the Hampton Roads area.
For Saturday night we have blocked a small group of rooms at the Peaks of Otter Lodge, at the rate of $129/night for single or double room accommodations. All rooms at the Lodge face a small lake, are non-smoking, have no phones, no TV, and there is no cell or Internet service available. In order to reserve your room please call 800-542-5927 and mention that you are a part of the
Mid Atlantic Minis group. For additional Lodge information, visit
http://www.peaksofotter.com/ If traditional full service hotel accommodations are desired, you may want to look into other area hotels in the vicinity of Bedford, which is located approximately 10 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Please let me know by posting here or via PM from my profile, if you would like to see a map of our route, or if you are interested in joining us anywhere along this approximately 750 mile,18 hour two-day scenic drive through the Virginia country side. It’s entirely up to you where you’d like to join the drive, but we’ll need to coordinate the location and timing of such.
For an interesting four part article about the Blue Ridge Parkway, open the following link:

MAM events, participation is restricted to
classic Minis and variants only.Thank you.
