Going with a slightly retro look, staying with the black with white roof and a 16V head with fuel injection and electric ignition.  There are some other goodies in the work too!  It's gonna be a completely mental road car!!

Great idea using baggie for the parts. You've been watching the other car shows.  Good luck. I've been working on my 240Z for about 5 years now. 017

Steve, I'd swear you had that Z broke down 5 years ago when I met you (for 5 years)  103 By the time you get it done, nobody will even know what it is.

Shawn, I'm glad to see Ya finally got started on the Classic. Have you found anyone to handle the body and paint? If not, I know some top notch shops that could take real good care of you once your ready.

As far as taking these puppies apart go's, they are a piece of cake. I can't say the same about the suspension, as that's probably my weekest link, at the moment. I'd also like as many details about your whole build project soon as you know what your budget will allow.

Hey John,

Ya there isn't a whole lot to them so tearing them down isn't hard.  Even the suspension is easy.  The hard part is the wiring loom.  I am doing my best not to damage anything.  The hard part will be fitting the new motor, or more specifically the new rad.  I won't be able to use a side rad since the new subframe has coilovers in the way.  So I'll probably need a custom built one.

The budget is fluctuating so we'll see how it all pans out.  And I don't have a definate on the body work yet but there is a bit more rot that I thought.  But it's a Mini so it's to be expected!

So I updated the gallery with a lot of new pics.  Front subframe is pretty much built.  Have the car bare shell and on a rotisserie now.  Found a LOT of beautiful British engineering (bodged) and rot, so this ought to be fun!

I'm pretty certain that if your Mini was a 2000, maybe even the second to last to roll of the assembly line, it too would have some wonderful English engineering as well. Such is the Mini. And I also warn anyone repeatedly that if you really want one bad enough, that is the one item they all have plenty of (RUST).

That front subby is something new to these eyes as well. You'll have to do some splaining Lucy. It also looks like a very familiar shop to me. Hmmmm, Steve Gibbs place? I can't imagine anybody else having classic Mini's all over like that.

Steve was by the shop Thursday and was telling about this Mini he had on the spinner. Said there was a good amount of rust but nothing like he's seen in some.

I'm with John, we want info on the front sub frame. It's absolutely beautiful!

John, you're right about the standard British engineering but unfortunately most of what we found was post assembly line, mainly patches to fix rust for MOT.  And yes, that's Steve's shop, I need like an hour in there just to look at stuff!

As far as the subby, it's a Z Cars piece out of the UK, the same guys that build the rear bike engined conversions.
