Hi all! I am planning on joining in on the OBX Jimmy's Buffet and i would like to buy a radio so I can chat or at least listen in on the fun. Anyway, I haven't got a clue what to buy or where to get it. I assume Best Buy. Can anyone tell me what they have and where they got it?

Brand of radios is usually pretty much personal preference.  The most important thing is that the radios have sub channels.  The club uses Channel 7, subchannel 21 mostly.  I currently have some real good motorolas.  The two pack is about 60 dollars for rechargeable ones.  I got mine at Bass Pro Shops.  Hope this helps.

I bought a pair of Midlands at Wal-Mart three years ago for ~$50.  When you shop for them, pay attention to whether they require a single or double jack for the headset.  The Midlands require the double.  Only place I could find a headset locally was Radio Shack, and it was $20.  Single-jack options are cheaper.

These are the one's I have. Actually on my second set. I broke one of the first set and, well, one doesn't help a lot. I like having the back up. Now I have two back ups. You can order them from Amazon and have 'em in a couple of days.
