I went to do my first oil change on my new to me R53 and the oil pan drain bolt is completely rounded off (this from a 100% dealer serviced car... 093)  The nearest Mini dealer to me is a 200 mile round trip (or I would just go and buy one), but there is a nearby BMW dealership.  Is there a BMW oil drain bolt that is the same as the R53's?

Not sure about the cross over from BMW to MINI on the oil pan plug, but you can get it (and any other oil change supplies) from MiniMania.  The plug is only about $6.

Hope this helps!

Another option is the Fumoto Drain Plug:

http://www.fumotousa.com/size_import.htm

There are two versions available:  with a nipple or without a nipple.

The nipple version allows you to attach a length of silicone tubing to the nipple so the oil flow can be directed into an oil recycling container.  You can quick-tie the tubing up & out of the way when not in use or reattach it when needed.

Thanks for the replies, I ended up just going to Autozone and finding a replacement.  Turns out the size is M14x1.5 if anyone ever needs to know.  I eventually got the bolt out of the pan (that was a blast) Time for a frosty one after the longest oil change I have ever done and a special thanks to an unnamed Mini dealer.........

Moral of the story, don't always just the dealer to "do it right"
