Either way, there's one less weed whacker on the road.

I'd write the owner a ticket for littering! And that's before it got stripped!

Absolutely true!

I've been on that road many times...it runs directly parallel to I-64 East and can be seen quite easily from I-64.

My bet is that it was an inside job...how many people would actually have a complete set of METRIC tools in their car and just "happen to drive by" and be willing to take a chance at removing SO MANY visible parts?

My guess is they removed the CAI, tuner adapter thingy (very technical, eh), & other stuff that only an enthusiast would appreciate...probably had a carbon-fiber hood or a nicely-painted contrasting colored hood...which was probably the LAST thing they removed....gauges & carbon-fiber interior bits, most likely...no mention made of the exhaust being missing, but the police don't always make "full reports" to the media.

Oh...and the rims...wonder what kind of rims & wheels were on it...did they bother to take the brake pads, lines & rotors while they were at it?

Those parts listed aren't easily tracked via serial numbers, so if it were an inside job, the owner could file a COMPREHENSIVE claim (almost always has a much lower deductible)...and have all those parts "replaced" via a check paid directly to the owner without having to show proof of repurchase.

The article doesn't say if the engine was damaged beyond repair (mysterious fluids added to radiator, oil, brake or tranny cases)...if the car is totaled, that's even more $$$ for the owner...who could technically then turn-around and buyback the car & fix it up.

It would be interesting if the owner recently lowered his comprehensive deductible in the past month or so...

Could be some folks from New York headed on vacation and saw an easy target. Honda parts are always in demand.
