This morning I was driving to work and all of a sudden this service indicator light came on so I stopped by Crown Mini and the guy told me that I needed brake service? What does that mean? do i just need them checked or do I need to have them replaced? If i need them replaced any idea of how much that costs? I am unable to really find anything online that says the prices.. just kinda frustrated that I have only had the car 2 months and I already need brakes. Hopefully someone can help me understand.  076

I can't envision any possibility that you'd need brakes now. But, there may be an issue that needs looking at, so I'd surely take it in to them asap!

I just had mine in @ 25K for both front and rear. This is a warning sign that the sensors are getting worn. The light comes on when the sensor at the front or rear wheel (left Fr.& right Rear) are at the low side of being useable. The pads are easy to replace, its the rotors that may need turning or replaced.

You've only had the car two months, but you don't indicate if you bought it new. If not, how many miles are on it?

Howie,

He previously posted about taking his 2007 MCS to the Richmond Dragway, so it was bought used.

I've always gotten a least 70,000 miles out of each set that I had. Your rotors are supposed to be replaced with the pads as they are designed to wear together. At least that the way it was on the earlier models. Appears to be the same on the 09 and 11 that I own.

~35K sounds about right.  Yes, rotors and pads are designed to wear together.  Be glad you got that out of yours.  I replaced all brakes/rotors last Spring on mine.  Two months ago, I discovered the left rear set had worn off-center to the point the outer pad was rubbing the rotor itself.   icon_eek  My only conclusion is the inner pad adjustment takeup was stuck and not moving.  I looked again at it the other day, and it does appear the pads are wearing evenly now.
