Hey fellow HR MINIacs, during the MINI Coupe debut last Wednesday, I learned of a new discount program for HR MINI members from Checkered Flag. We're working on membership cards as we speak. We still have a few bugs to iron out on that front, especially since HR MINI doesn't charge any dues. I don't wanna see someone sign up for the site just to get discounts at the Flag. That really cheapens the the value of our group. I'm trying to figure out a way to make membership viable to qualify for the discounts. Maybe requiring a minimum number of posts or event attendance. Then some one has to keep track of that. I can tell post count from the web site though. What the discounts will include is 15% on parts at the front counter when purchased by a member. OR, you'll receive 10% off parts AND labor when your MINI is in for service. Each have a $100 maximum discount allowed. This is a great opportunity Checkered Flag is throwing our way an done that's beneficial to both members and the dealership. As I get more info and some of the details worked out I'll be sure to keep y'all filled in! Still working on an implementation plan, bet we'll work that out soon enough.

This is a very attractive offer by Checkered Flag. Please do us a favor however, and do NOT make post counts part of the criteria that qualifies folks for the discounts. In my opinion, this will only serve to open the floodgates to meaningless posts, which in turn, will "cheapen the value" (to use your words) of this forum.

I agree that post counts probably aren't the best way. I would definitely make some kind of "attendance" and "club card" a requirement tho. At the very least showing up at pub dinner (or southside dinner) to get your card. Course, you know once most people attend one event they're hooked :)

Posts counts might be used, but I have the power to delete worthless posts. Besides, we might be super cool people, but riling us up with worrisome posts will bring our wrath upon one.
Suffice it to say a one must be a contributing member. While I'd like to see lots of new members, I'd really rather nothave people sign up just to get the discounts.
Thoughts.....

This is a great opportunity Checkered Flag is throwing our way an done that's beneficial to both members and the dealership. As I get more info and soem of the details worked out I'll be sure to keep y'all filled in! Please clarify the bolded text above: 1. Card-carrying members would receive 15% for counter purchases PLUS an ADDITIONAL 10% discount on parts required during a service appointment = 25% discount total. OR 2. Card-carrying members would receive 15% for counter purchase buy ONLY a 10% discount on parts required during a service appointment. If it's Option 2, it's a punishment to not provide the FULL 15% discount. If it's Option 1, that'd be a GREAT way to show customer service appreciation. Unless things have changed, BMWCCA membership = 20% discount.

Perhaps an expiration date on the membership card would work. Membership cards might be held by some regular attendees of events and handed out upon request or recognition of a newbie. The club can't afford to mail them out, cause we collect no funds for postage. Just thinking out loud...

Okay, I talked to Gina at CF today and here's the scoop:
If you walk into the parts department you'll receive a 15% discount on your purchase. Maximum discount is $100.
If you take your beloved MINI into the service department you'll receive 10% on PARTS AND LABOR. Again, maximum discount is $100.
You won't be able to afford a new JCW coupe or put your offspring through Harvard, but HEY, if you can save a buck these days, it's a good thing!
I've updated the first post with the corrected info as well.
Now, how to figure out a method of eligibility.......

I think a good requirement would be members need to show up to three of any of our events, to even include trips to the Pub or Finn McCool's. We don't have to keep a roll call on this. I'm sure enough active members would be able to tell if someone showed enough interest in the club. Once they do, they receive a discount card with their name on it. We could even be so fancy as to get the cards laminated (I don't have a laminator, though).

Once you have all this figured out, send me the graphcs. I'll have the cards printed, cut and laminated at my office, no charge...in exchange for one card with my name on it.

I agree, we don't have to hand out a discount card on the first visit someone makes to an event. Maybe set a 3 month period, if after that time the people are still around, give them a card.

Has anybody come up with a plan for this idea yet? And does the club have any Membership Cards as of yet? If so, who/what do I need to do to get one? The MINIs on the Ferry was a blast!
