My MINI was just attacked by a dog that jumped on the door. The scratch is superficial,  as if sandpaper had been rubbed over it. I don't think extensive bodywork is needed but I know it is there. Any ideas on a good wax or rubbing compound that would make that area shiny again and cover the scratch?
Thanks a bunch!

I'd say start with a clay bar to pull anything embedded in the paint... after that, just try a light scratch polish, like Meguiers Scratch X.

Good luck!  Bad Dog!!

yes, that is good advice.  avoid any rubbing compounds.  Claybar and Meguiars ScratchX and use as directed.  Use an up and down motion when applying the polish and buffing it off.  No circular rubbing.  This will prevent or minimize any swirls marks in the finish while trying to remove the scratches.  If the scratch is gone then apply some Meguairs NXT polish over top the area treated.  if not, you may want to try a second application of ScratchX.  if you still have the scratch then it will require something more aggressive.  - larry

if /when u decide to get bold cuz the soft stuff didn't work (which may be never)

I have and have used many times a (gasp) rotory buffer and have used it with (GASP GASP) cutting compound. ANDddddd, I have painted cars...entire cars....

If you want to bring your scratch by I'd be happy to look - and we can try to use the LANGA system ....  or paint the entire door ..... or fill it with a Sharpie .....  your choice

not a recommendation .... just an offer

Thankyou for the offer! I'll see how the clay bar and other stuff works first, but if it doen't work you might see me and Nigel show up for a consultation.
