If y'all have some free time, you're welcome to follow us up to the mountains the second weekend of October. First, on Saturday, we're heading up to Winchester, VA to visit Marker-Miller Orchards for their Apple Festival. 20 varieties of apples for sale, LOADS of apple food like pies, cobblers and apple cider donuts, which I hear are awesome. Also have music and events for the kids. It's a pretty neat place. Here is their WEBSITE: www.markermillerorchards.com/home/Then on Sunday, our good MINI friends at DC Metro MINI's is having a run up to Luray Caverns. If you don't want to make it an overnighter, you can easily do either day. Orchard on Saturday or the Caverns on Sunday. I plan on doing some motoring around the Charlottesville area Saturday. And hopefully hook up with some of the guys from the fledgling club, Central VA Mini club. There are some good roads up thata way! Then on to the orchard for Saturday afternoon. Luray Caverns is always fun and enjoying it with a bunch of MINI friends is always a plus. There are also a lot of thins to do around Luray, including a car museum right on their property. I promise to find some nice roads to the orchard and up to Luray! |

Working on overnight accommodations now. Will check and see if they are puppy friendly. I'm fairly sure I remember seeing dogs there before though. |

Actually Mike, there's y'all in Richmond, Star City MINI's in Roanoke and Central VA MINI club in Charlottesville, so MINI clubs are popping up all over. Trust me, I know first hand how much it takes to recruit, retain and entertain members. Add that to keeping some sort of web presence and maintain a full time job along with family stuff and it's a wonder anything gets done! At least y'all have a dealership in your back yard. Star City and Central VA don't. That's a MAJOR advantage! I'd love to see all those clubs up and running well. Can you imagine how many MINI events we'd have to choose from?! |

Trying to judge how many MINI's we might have with interest in this run.
It's a full day drive if you plan on doing the Hampton Roads to Winchester to Hampton Roads run. Couple that drive with a good couple of hours at the Orchard and you'll be pretty worn out. BUT, if you do that, you'll miss hanging out with the DC Metro MINI's on their run down to Luray Caverns.
I planned on making some runs around the Shenandoah Valley area until they make it down. No real plan or route, just drive and see the area.
The only down side, since we're close to the Northern VA/DC area, hotel rooms ain't cheap. If I had an idea of how many people are interested, I might be able to get a discounted rate.
Any takers?

If that's it, TripAdvisor.com gives it a decent rating. Travelers reviews seemed good, though some posts from 2010 were less than flattering. Recent posts seemed good, though. Only 1 excellent out of all the reviews and right many terrible reviews. But again, recent reviews were good.
