Good morning  038 ... I am also a recent transplant to the Hampton Roads area, recently moved from Maryland.  I have the privilege of owning a 2008 MINI Cooper S, dark silver with black racing stripes, and can be identified fairly easily in any group of MINI's by the ever-present lei on the rearview, and more noticeably, the pink bunny ears I mounted on the steering column.  That's why she's known as The Bunny Mini :) ... I joined the group mostly due to the curiosity  017 instigated by a random "join us" card left on my windshield at NMCP (I thought for sure someone was trying to mug me by leaving something on my car... lol )... and also to get my feelers out on who does good mechanical work on MINI's in the area besides the dealership   100 .  I'm not happy with Checkered Flag so far  076 ... my old dealership in Annapolis was 100,000x better.  So, since I drive my poor Bunny hard, I'm in constant need of upkeep.  Most recently, new rear brakes, new timing chain and new tires... if anyone knows of anywhere to go that won't rake me over the coals money-wise, please let me know!! Thanks so much!!

Meisha Krutar

(ps... wish there was some kind of bunny smiley to insert lol )

I just posted in the welcome thread, but figured I'd re post over here just to get more views.

If you're on the southside (Norfolk, VA Beach, Chesapeake) try Terry Baker at Atlantic Autowerks at 757-466-1269  or on the peninsula try Autohaus in Yorktown (757) 898-1200. I've used both as have other members and been happy.

Thanks so much! I'll give Terry Baker a call today! And please, any and all suggestions are welcome... two heads are better than one, etc etc... which also makes for a great B-rated horror movie too lol

If memory serves, there is a recall on the timing chain tensioner (a.k.a. cold start rattle) for 2nd-gen MINIs.  Go here for more information.  Scroll down a little ways for the related article.
