Bonnet/trunk warning light

Well, the owner,s manual said I could, so I did. I replaced my burnt-out reverse light on the driver's side, and while trying to get it out it broke off and was lodged inside the taillight. Along comes my daughter's friend who does all his own work on the various cars he has owned. We both manage to take the taillight out and get the broken bulb out, find a replacement, put everything back together, and now the light works. However, now the above-mentioned warning light comes on. Sometimes it blinks, and sometimes it just stays on. Every now and then an annoying bell comes on, too. Maybe that is why the owner's manual lists the repair, knowing that the unsuspecting owner will have to have something reset. It's an R52 2007 convertible.

I'm not sure if this will help but, I was interested in getting the LED side markers for my clubby but I read that because the electrical draw is so much lower for LEDs that it would trigger the "bulb out" warning all the time too. This could be your problem. The bulb you replaced the old one with doesn't drawing enough amps for the sensor. Or, since the bulb broke while trying to get it out, it could also be corrosion in the socket causing the odd or low ampage.
Just a thought.

I think that's exactly what it is, since the socket has some residual melted glass from the original bulb still left in it. I'm going to leave it for Atlantic Autowerks when I take it for service next month.
