Ok so I know I'm new here, but I went ahead and ordered my Alta Pulley and ignition kit and while I was at it, I had them include the free pulley puller rental. Soooo that being said, I will have the pulley puller available to do my car and wasn't sure if anyone else would like to use it.

On that note, I am not going to get it in time for this weekend and then I am on vacation out of state for the next 2 weekends, so I am going to try and do the install as soon as I get back.

Would anyone be willing to come lend a hand that has done this before or want to come hang out? I can treat to food and beverages for the day, and again, we can do more then one mini at my house I have driveway space to probably do 3 mini's at once if anyone else needed to use the tool.

Let me know! Thanks!

That would be awesome.

And in turn, if anyone ever needs a place to work on their Mini, I have a 400 sqft garage that I don't mind opening up to some local people and helping however possible.

I enjoy helping others where I can and making new friends, especially car enthusiasts.

Granted, my mini isn't registered yet (seems like its been forever waiting for the title and its only been 2 days lol), I would still pull the MR2 out of the garage and hang out  023

Well, I got my pulley kit in with the pulley puller.

Anyone up for lending a hand that may have done it before or may be a little more Mini savvy than I am?

I can supply food/beverage of choice and if it comes down to it, I can probably pay a little money for anyone who can help out. I'd like to learn along the way, but I also have read the How To and realize that I will be messing with a lot of cruicial parts and don't want to break my car right off the bat!

Please let me know, feel free to PM or email, wilcoxjb@yahoo.com.

I am hoping to dig into this November 12th!

Thanks!

Just want to update this and give a HUGE thanks to Scott for coming out and helping me swap the pulley. Since I've had the car, I've been able to do quite a bit to it and now the other common problems are rearing their heads, but with some encouragement from my friends, it's looking like I will trudge on and get this stuff replaced and hopefully keep the mini forever!

Also that being said, I would be more than happy to assist any other locals in doing thier pulley kits, brakes, or anything else that they need a hand with! Just hit me up anytime!

This is true, I find myself upgrading everything along the way or associated with whatever I am working on. New Powerflex Front control arm bushings and front sway bar bushings are soon to be on the way!

What's the advantage of swapping the pulley system out for an aftermarket? Do you get more power out of it? Or does it just move your power around on the rpm levels?

Dyno's have shown you pick up about 20HP from the upgrade because you are essentially increasing the boost output from the motor. I can say, I felt a VERY nice difference when Scott helped me do mine! I originally put in a 15% pulley, but recently took that off and put on a 16% pulley from Waymotorworks instead. I talked to Way on the phone and he said he advises not to go over 17PSI of boost on a basically stock motor for spirited driving, so the 16% pulley with my ATI super damper puts me right below that as the ATI damper is .8% oversized.

I just recently sold off my spare 15% Alta pulley and belt :( or I would definitely have given you a deal on it!

If you decide to go this route, feel free to shoot me a PM or post in here and I will help you with picking out whatever is best suited for you and depending on your location to Norfolk, I would also possibly be able to lend a hand installing it if Scott will lend me his pulley puller or he may even want to swing by and help. We could have a mini mod day at my house :)
