Okay gang, we have the makings of a great spring time run.
This will be a charity run. I'm thinking something military related, possibly Wounded Warriors, since DC Metro MINI's supports them with the 1 lap of the Beltway run. However I'm open to suggestions.
I'm looking at the month of March at the moment. That gives everyone plenty of room to recoup for the Dragon in May. I'm thinking either Saturday the 24th or Sunday the 25th.
My other question is, What's best for y'all? Saturday afternoon run or Sunday morning run?
Not able to let a lot of the cat outta the bag just yet, but the biggest hurdle has been checked off the To Do list! Full steam ahead!
Harry and I will hopefully get together real soon to hash out a few organizational details. We do need a couple of people to help with logistics and Door prize/goodie bag donations. A lot of people have already volunteered and I'll be contacting you within the week. Thanks to everybody and I really think y'all are gonna like this run/event!

YAY!! My suggestion would always be a Saturday rather than a Sunday run not only for me personally but also for anyone else who may consider joining you "from a distance" ..
Looking forward to hearing more about this event!

That's my exact reason for asking. Travel time. Of course ya have to weigh the options. Drive up Friday night or REAL early Saturday morning (which makes for a long day) for a Saturday run, then have a leisurely drive home Saturday evening or maybe even stay over and drive home on Sunday.
OR
Have a nice drive up on Saturday and spend the night. Then get up for the Sunday run, but that make ya have to haul butt back home on Sunday evening.
I've done both and I have to say that Saturday runs outta town are a bit easier. Local runs on Sundays aren't bad for locals.
While the big ground work is done, the Sat or Sun thing remains.

Whichever day you plan it, I will try and make it, so I'm not adding this note for my sake, or arguing, tho it may seem that way :-) :-) :-)
Saturday runs for out of towners are generally the preferred options since then one could drive up Friday night and spend the night (avoiding a long/early Saturday AM meet up) and STILL spend Saturday night .. or have a long return drive but have all day Sunday to catch up. Sunday drives mean perhaps a long return home on a night with work the next day ..
Though it's been my experience in trying to recruit other Tar Heeler's they do "just day" drives even if it's a really long day as compared to my usual of staying over at least one night on one end or the other of my trips ..
From a personal perspective - but do not take this into consideration AT ALL when selecting what works best for you - whenever possible I try and get to church on Sundays so that also figures into my Saturday rather than Sunday preference .. not sure how many others may feel the same; I know a couple of drive co-ordinators with Tar Heel only drive on Sundays if it's a weekend trip -- single day only drives are always on Saturday ..

Dale, good either day as it goes now. But i think a saturday run would be better as it allows for a better variety of start and stop times. You can start early or mid or later. Or have time for a longer event.
Btw. Would be up for helping as labor in this. Let me know what ya need

Saturdays work best for me since I tend to have to schlep a few hours for events, and I like having Sunday as a recovery day. Any more details on this possible run?
