There is a possibility that my beloved MINI may need to be stored for a year or more should I be offered the job I am pursuing, and I was wondering what I else I might need to do to store it properly besides disconnecting the battery and putting it on jack stands?

Change the fluids, add STABIL to 90% full tank of gas.  If you put an air freshener in there for three months without opening the windows the scent will last longer than new car smell!

Cheers,
Alan

Thanks!

Since my car still smells new, I probably won't put a freshener in it... LOL

With my car being so new, and not even having had its first service, is the fluid change absolutely necessary?

If you don't have covered parking, a car cover is recommended...  but only if you have a nice one you can make sure isn't going to come undone with some wind.  A flapping cover can rub right thru some paint in the span of a few months.  I'd at least change the oil Dan... nice fresh synthetic is always a good idea...especially if you haven't changed your oil since new.  I usually change my oil after the first 50 miles on a new car, to get rid of all the metal particulates from break-in.

I'll add:
Putting it on jackstands isn't a great idea. Leaving the suspension unloaded in full droop that long isn't a good thing.
It will also flat spot the tires so either get crap tires you'll be OK with tossing or get some of the bolt on wheel stands.

Or get someone to drive it occasionally.

Also you'll want to heavily treat the interior plastics. Preferably with a UV protectant like 303 Aerospace.

Brand new coolant with maybe an extra dose of anticorrosive additive.

I'm fairly certain if everything comes through, I'll be putting it in a storage facility to make sure it is covered.

Also, how will the tires flat spot if they're off the ground?

The bolt-on stands look like they'd be good though.

I normally would have changed the oil right after break-in, but I decided to follow BMW's recommended intervals... We'll see if that decision pays off. LOL

But, I think you're right and I would get at least that done before departure.

Of course, this is all dependent on getting the job... :p
