We are looking into getting stripes on our Mini - anyone suggest website or company to get a feel for all the various ways of striping a Mini?  Any help greatly appreciated.

I'm one of "those" people that don't own a MINI!

Check with Scott from Auto Trim Design, as he can do some design work as well.  Scott installs all the stripes for the dealerships.  He does good stuff.

I don't have a number handy but HOMER J should have it.

In offering fullness of answer - I do believe that all these references are for the application of vinyl stripes.  You could have them painted on.  MINI factory stripes are vyn as are most alternates ... but they are the reason I don't have stripes.  I just have this THING against vynl stripes.

(we once bought a spiffy Audi Coupe and I told the dealer, do not put your crappy tape stripes on it....  The car was actually a transfer from another dealer in another state {computer search to find what we wanted} and when we went to p/up the car it had tape pinstripes on and the dealer had added that to the cost - he said he got it that way.  I walked to the car, slid my fingernail under the nearest end and proceeded to pull all the tape off, rolled it into a ball, handed it to the sales manager and said - you can take THAT off the contract.....)  Oceanic Blue Audi Coupe - 1989 - a VERY nice piece of metal work I still think...also noted by Car and Driver as having the best steering of any car that year....

And that gets me thinking (a dangerous thing ... smell smoke????) there is a guy in town who does outstanding hand painted pin-stripes.  He was doing a hot rod at a car show a few months back as a demo .... now there's a way to make a car unique....

I've been trying to decide what to do to OC's roof.  I want 'something'.  I was thinking an Irish flag ..... but a BIG custom pin stripe, hand painted ,,,, hmmmm.  Or.... flames?  dem aren't flames Fuzzy .... I'm thinking FLAMES that pull back from the roofline all the way across - keeping the black as a background/base color.....  I've got the airbrush....you got the skills?????  This is the goal which has lead me into two years of auto painting classes but I'm still shy.....   Orange Flames that fade into the black roof......   Damn, that would look GOOD .....

I used to agree with you BJ, until I had a guy in Cali who did pinstriping attempt to put stripes on PNUT. He messed up the finish on my car something fierce and I had to have quite a bit of her repainted by a reputable body shop. The guy paid for what I asked him to pay for, but only after much aggravation. It was a VERY costly lesson for both me and for him. I won't do that again unless I fork out the big bucks to have it done by a pro. To have my Union Jack stripe painted on the car would cost at least half as much as sticker price. A far cry from the couple hundred I paid for vinyl. AND I can remove it when I get tired of it.

I don't disagree

poorly applied paint is a mess and hard to undo

but QUALITY paint beats plastic every time ....

as I said ... that's why I don't have stripes

you said: It was a VERY costly lesson for both me and for him. I won't do that again unless I fork out the big bucks to have it done by a pro.

and that's what I'm saying too ...  if the assumption is "I'm not willing to pay" then vynl is ur only option.....

For me....well I might be willing to pay 'cept I've learned the hard way that u can pay and get ripped off (sound familiar) so having disposable income and MORE disposable time - I've spent two years, two nites a week, trying to learn how to do it.  And the best way to learn is ON SOMEBODY ELSE' CAR!!!!!!

But a quality - properly applied PAINT beats vynl every time .... agree?
Me suspects yes ELSE u would not have tried that route the first time.....you just didn't research your contractor as I didn't my first paint job here....  I relied on a recomendation  :smt012

Yes, I agree. If I had that kind of money to burn, I'd still get it done in paint.
