well there are 190 people on the list now and i am sure we will break that record again pretty soon with christmas breaks and vacations.

speaking of members i parked behing a astroblack MINI at the NIMMO Home Depot night before last and the owners were walking out to it as I was getting out of mine.  i had a HRMINI card in hand and as I introduced myself and HRMINI the guy says with one glance at the car that he doesn't do "clubs". i told him it was much more than a club and it dawned on me that i think perhaps a lot of MINI owners never check us out because they think we are just a "club" with rules, bylaws, meetings, dues, secret handshakes and funny little hats.  i can understand his/their point.  still i hope he checks us out.  the funny thing was that his wife seems more buzzed about it than he did.

nevertheless, i honestly think that the MINI Lifestyle is as much a part of this car as the motor and the wheels.  if you aren't a part of the community in some way even if it is just to lurk here at the site then i don't think you are getting everything that comes with MINI ownership.  i travel a lot with my job so i can't make it to every event and i still haven't met everyone and gotten to know them as well as I would like.  but those i have gotten to know a little are really nice.  the events and get togethers are great.  we have been giving back to our communities.  the corporate MINI knowledge out here is excellent and best of all local.  someone is always able to help out and lend a hand for most whatever comes up with our MINIs or our lives.

so i think when we meet MINI owners who are not involved with our group for whatever reason we ought to emphasize that it if free of charge, free structured mostly, lotsa chances to motor and eat and that the benefits are staying up to date with local/national MINI happenings, MINI issues/workarounds/fixes, lists of trusted local/national MINI vendors, local MINI community with mucho corporate MINI knowledge, and that they can be involved as much or as little as they want to.  however, i don't think anyone who registers with this site/group or visits this site with any regularity will not eventually participate in something we got going on here.  - larry
