FYI,

Let's you compare up to 4 sizes at once.

I'm actually in need of some help in picking a size tire for my new wheels on the way.  They are 17" x 7" with a 42 offset.

I have 215/45/17 on the car now...  any idea if I can go to a 225 or even a 235?

It doesn't have 10" tires listed.  Yokohoma makes A048R tires in a 165/55-12 size and used to make A032 in 165/70-10.  Not that I have the cash to spend on new wheels and tires right now.

Sticking with the same wheel size the old 10 to 5 ratio works fairly well.
for 10mm wider go 5 mm shorter.
Ideally 15 to 5 is what you're shooting for since this is all based on Pi, π, but tires sizes rarely accommodate that.
